I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, ample PTO after 10 years, steady work

    Cons

Micromanagement, favoritism, lack of professionalism in management, back biting, unreasonable goals, procedures change daily, managers unable to perform tasks that are expected to be handled by employees so you are on your own if a problem comes up, metrics are king, bonuses are based on unrealistic expectations, training rarely applies to actual job duties, loan processing program is cumbersome, software is struggling to be relevant, raises are minuscule. And all of this criticism comes from a 20 year employee who finished their last year of work as the #1 Processor on their team and earned a six figure income that year in spite of everything. If my numbers weren’t so good, I would have been furloughed, but I managed to do things my way and succeed. During my last 3 years at Wells Fargo, I had 8 managers. My job was not for the faint of heart.

    Advice to Management

Train your managers. Stop with the inane metrics. Don’t just give lip service to the idea of customer service, actually provide it. Hire the right employees, not just the cheapest people and give them some measure of authority to make decisions that would benefit the customer. Stop worrying about your own job security and do the right things to train your team properly.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have a great manager and most of my co-workers are awesome. Great benefits with 401k match up to 6% and profit sharing.

    Cons

The atmosphere is very stressful and there is a lack of support from upper management. Unrealistic expectations. Very abusive sales department which management is aware of but allows to continue.

    Advice to Management

Learn the true meaning of teamwork.

I have been working at Wells Fargo part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Professional environment and promotes growth within the company. They also offer a number of very great benefits including up to 6% 401K matching

    Cons

Not many challenges for me so far. I would say the biggest con is being stuck sitting in front of a computer screen during the first two weeks for training.

    Advice to Management

You guys are doing great aside form the whole scandal

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wonderful teammates, slick origination system, great benefits, accepting workplace.

    Cons

Empty promises from management, unattainable customer loyalty goals, lack of response to employee feedback. Also soft phone system needs updated.

    Advice to Management

Stop using the line "our customers will want to work with us because of the brand, Wells Fargo is the gold standard"; this is delusional thinking and is continuing to cause harm to the brand because people recognize this as unwarranted hubris. Management needs to realize that after over a year of scandal after scandal they will have to work to earn consumer confidence back -- be more adaptable, nimble and cut the red tape that is slowing innovation. Also set attainable customer loyalty goals to keep your employees motivated. Promote from within instead of promising 6 management trainees they can each have the same position then bringing in someone from outside the company to fill the role -- carrot and stick approach to keep folks motivated does not work with adults who legitimately want to advance their careers. Main thing is to stop drinking the kool-aid and thinking that "the brand is gold" so they don't need to change the way they do business at all.
