I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Pay is poor (I relieved a 3 cent raise, which was written on paper and handed to me across the table... I kid not) BUT they do have decent benefits.

    Cons

Place is a total joke. They say it's customer service oriented, but they say a lot of things that simply aren't true. We had 4-5 bankers in a branch that rarely had any customers wanting to sit down with somebody. Unattainable hurdles that required lying and deception. They'd say stuff like "you're not helping enough customers" which means you're not opening a bunch of stuff...

    Advice to Management

Actions speak louder than words. You can say what you want, but there's an obvious disconnect between what you say and what you do. Toxic environment and if you want to be a sales company, that's fine, but make realistic hurdles and don't say you're a customer oriented bank. If you do want to be a customer oriented bank, then don't have sales goals (which are still there, just disguised). It was awful working there, and...

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities for growth and development Numerous areas for employment Technology up to speed unlike some other banks

    Cons

Too many company/policy changes happen too often Current and new employees still being forced to apologize for the old lawsuit mess Customer service area representatives (public and internal) need to be trained better.

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

As far as training in finance goes Wells Fargo is at the top of their game, 2 weeks for tellers and 3 weeks for Lead Tellers before interacting with customers. Online training is excellent, very comprehensive and easy to follow. Online training can be boring for lack of interaction but this training keeps you connected and interested. Online tests kept it interesting and broke the routine, by the time we finish we should...

    Cons

Disappointing to see local management not following training schedule. Service manager does not have a plan in place to have all new staff members leaving us asking questions to other staff members. No guidance or planning in place. When mistakes are made she was quick to write a staff member up before asking what happened. Management at the Elko branches are very immature and lacks customer...

    Advice to Management

Although I enjoyed my time at the Elko Plaza branch i will not consider working for Wells Fargo again. Management are inexperienced and unprofessional, internal issues are not dealt with and the company loses great people. Elko branch lost 2 Lead Tellers with 30 experience between them in a span of a month because of incompetence and favoritism, instead promoting a Lead Teller to Personal Banking who had 1 year experience...

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

The sales culture has changed a lot so there isn't any pressure to do sales anymore. They give you a lot of vacation and have great health benefits.

    Cons

All the customers mention the scandals and law suits regularly, so it's a difficult customer service environment to work in. Also, to get promoted you basically have to be liked by upper management and in the "club".

I worked at Wells Fargo full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Clean, calm, and well-appointed offices, break areas, parking, etc., excellent learning opportunities for skills development in fraud detection and customer service, job security (provided metrics required are maintained).

    Cons

Call center (can be a negative for some), PTO is honored, but not always available (they decide when you can use it, and cite "business needs" for refusing to grant certain days off); lack of formal training (several tests and quizzes in training were expected to be completed and passed in one hour with no time to read materials; we were told to "keep retaking until you pass;" found this highly disturbing that this was...

    Advice to Management

Please work with employee PTO requests in a more balanced and fair way. It is NOT their fault that there is high attrition in this department. They should not be penalized by having PTO requests (especially for doctor appointments and family matters) constantly denied because you've been given unreasonable production demands from your higher-ups. This is not fair. This is not reasonable or healthy for a work environment....

    Pros

No sales "Goals" but now have "Activity Goals", a "Credit Pipeline", and weekly performance which lists loan volume produced, investments produced, assets booked and customer service gallop poll score. Great pay and benefits. Very good PTO and work life balance unless you have a terrible manager. Given a book of business and ample training and education all paid for. Cons

Management wasn't restructured after the sales scandal so they still have unqualified "leaders" who got there from who they know not what they know. Without a sales target, these managers are growing more incompetent and branch managers generally run away from customers and hide in there office away from any liability. Way too many 1 on 1's pretending they are supporting you but only trying to highlight sales numbers...

    Advice to Management

Branch managers without a series 9/10 or 24 should have been an FA or premier banker to manage licensed bankers - they have NO clue and frustrate licensed team members if they haven't been on the advisor side Stop avoiding service or support and forcing bankers to call "banker connection" - you undermine your acumen and look foolish.
