I worked at Welocalize full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Speaking only for the software office -- very supportive environment, interesting work, lots of freedom, flexibility, cooperation. Nice work environment.

        Cons

While I was there there were almost no women. After I left I heard the entire department that was mostly women got laid off, and the rest quit. I'm sure they'd say it's a coincidence, but unless they hired already after recent layoffs there are NO WOMEN AT ALL in software development and that's suspicious to me. I already felt super awkward about working in a room full of well-paid white men, just down the hall from a...

        Advice to Management

The rest of the company is so diverse, why not the software teams? Also, communication with upper management is poor. Lots of employees feel on edge about job security. (Nothing was said to me, but I've heard of inappropriately threatening things being said to other employees.) You'll get better work out of people if you at least give them an illusion of security, and they'll stick around longer. If the company is in...

I have been working at Welocalize full-time

        Pros

Very flexible schedule, and the work is pretty easy.

        Cons

They will cut you whenever they do not need you anymore. Barely give any raises. Super weird work environment. Not a place for a career.

          Cons

No (or very little) chance for advancement Testers are treated as contract employees so no raises Communication with management is lacking

I worked at Welocalize full-time for less than a year

          Pros

Diverse, friend staff. Modern work environment.

          Cons

As a whole, the work was very monotonous, we were discouraged from and/or reprimanded for conversing with coworkers. Many of the issues I experienced were directly related to the contractual nature of my employment, even though mine was a long-term (minimum three years) contract. The company to which my division was contracted threatened almost daily to pull the plug and put us all out of a job. This even though employees...

          Advice to Management

Support employees, provide better training. Offer health insurance sooner to full-time staff. Paid vacation would be a nice luxury!

          I worked at Welocalize

          Pros

The work environment is very laid back

          Cons

The recruiters don't have HR education/experience, they base themselves in evaluating linguistic skills. The people recruiting sometimes are not native (while screening and selecting the native candidates for a specific language), or have a sciences/engineering degree displaying low quality linguistic native level to evaluate or assess the candidates. The work behavior doesn't look serious, professional or providing a...

          Advice to Management

Hire NATIVE recruiters/workers who have a proper academic degree in PHILOLOGY, JOURNALISM, LINGUISTICS, TRANSLATION or MEDIA. Provide more serious quality work, pay more, provide conditions for stability.
