      Good starter company

      Pros

Way better than cr england. Second trainer was very nice and trained me good. Wait time between the 2 trainers was 4 weeks in a hotel room getting paid 400/week. Dedicated positions are the best imho. Driver managers seem to be very nice.

      Cons

First trainer pushed me to drive 11 hours on I80 with an empty trailer and heavy wind. Pay isn't amazing. Its much better to go to another company after a year at Werner for the pay raise.

Training... Youll get plenty of training... great for a fresh brand new CDL driver.

      Cons

Will show its limitations with in 6 months. Not as many accounts to select from as they say.

Good Start for a new driver, Take a dedicated for money

      Pros

For the OTR account: Decent amount of freight. Cool trainers. Decent compensation. They will work with you. Home time is the expect 14 out 2 home. For the Dollar General Account: Cool managers out of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Freight everyday. If you are willing to work 1500 a week is easy as a company driver I made that constantly. Good trucks and a lot of choice if you are picky Lots of services for the drivers. You get to see your dispatcher and Fleet Manager in person a few times a week.

      Cons

OTR: Very little downtime pay, sometimes it can be a logistical nightmare and you CAN end up with a short week with little pay due to downtime. Breakdowns are a headache with poor maintenance. Dollar General Account: Trailers are in VERY bad condition. Rollatainers are VERY heavy and the work is almost impossible for one person. You will constantly be pulling into stores and towns where trucks can barely fit. Store managers can be real jerks sometimes.

      There are better companies

Feb 7, 2018 - Professional Truck Driver in Indianapolis, IN

      Pros

As a day driver it was nice being home everyday, and the work/loads were fairly consistent.

      Cons

There are other companies with better pay, equipment, and management. Pay was decent - 0.29/mile for OTR, 0.35/mile for Net Ops/day driver, and 0.42/mile for dedicated account, but there are better wages with other companies. It also took a long time to get into a fleet I was ok with. There were a high number of bad trailers and my assigned truck needed repairs often. Management seems to be unhappy with their jobs and could be difficult to work with. I shared a truck with a driver who smoked and management did nothing when I asked to be assigned a different truck. I'd have to switch to a different time slot from what I'd worked long time to get into. I worked 6 months on a 1am-1pm before I could get into a 8am-8pm time slot.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good equipment, endless options to find a good fit for each driver. Good place for the inexperienced to start, then either move on to other companies, or stay and make a career with Werner.

      Cons

Pay below industry, and peer standards. Some of the "big daddy" oversight is is excessive and can be a nuisance.
