    Pros

Its growing, fast paced and always something to learn if you are energetic, motivated and a self starter. Smaller company so I can see more of the operations.

    Cons

Sometimes its busy but that's better than not having any patients to take care of

I worked at West Coast Dental full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The pay is good.

    Cons

Upper management keep moving staff around. They only care about the bottom line. Patient care is lost in the numbers. The company is very unstable and it needs an overhaul on how they run their offices. Worst "corporate support" is more like "corporate will not support". This company does so much fraud I'm surprised they keep popping up everywhere. But it will catch up, sooner than later.

    Advice to Management

a house devided will not stand! There seems to be a huge disconnect from what corporate excepts and what the office are doing. I saw another review that stated "get your lawyers ready" I believe this statement to be true.

    Pros

    The co-workers and casual Fridays

    Cons

Money seems to be the driving force behind this company. Corporate office was totally understaffed. Even after consistently opening new offices, they never hired more employees to make up for all the additional work. Staff were grossly over worked. Their main goal always seemed to be profit, profit, profit, and how to get as much money from patients, even if they couldn't afford it. Very stingy in spending in certain areas that were very needed. Very high turnover. Constant hiring and firing of people. In all my years of employment at other companies, I've never experienced anything quite like this. I was afraid of voicing any sort of concerns for fear of getting let go. There was fear in this office environment. People were exhausted and stressed. It often times also felt like a boot camp.

    Advice to Management

You need to seriously reconsider your values and how you treat patients and employees. This will all come back to bite you in the "you know where" in some way if you continue to have MONEY and profit as your main goal. Really try to get employees feedback and create a trustworthy, comfortable environment where people fee like they can be open and honest about concerns or issues without fear of retribution or getting fired. Take that feedback and make the necessary changes so that you have employees who really love their jobs, love coming to work, and so you don't have such a high turnover. It all creates a butterfly effect and trickles down to the patient experience as well. Just have a look at all the awful patient reviews. Doesn't this tell you something?

    Pros

My co-workers. Thats a bout it, and casual Fridays. THat's when the owners are not in so the office environment can be lightened up.

    Cons

Very, very little pay for employees within the corporate office. Only the top heads in corporate get paid (not many). Benefits Are TERRIBLE- still had to pay a good lump sum to see a dentist!! The irony-

    Advice to Management

Needs to be restructured, include your office employees.

I worked at West Coast Dental full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall the staff is great. This company has even greater potential that what it has accomplished.

    Cons

Regional management is kept too busy in nonesense meetings and other mumbo jumbo when thay can be investing time in other areas in which help is needed. Ortho department lacks stability and structure in their management staffing, constantly hiring and firing new managers, causing an unbalance within offices and annoying patients. It takes forever to reach a manager in ortho if any patient would need to speak to them. Corporate staff is overpaid for what they actually do, and lack basic common sense of the dental field, they have degrees but lack customer service skills as well.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, patients, and any buisness coming through your doors. Positive relationships with your employees, vendors, doctors and patients will open doors. Customers can tell when your all about money, and greed can compromise those relationships that are beneficial to your office, or whole company. Yes technology is good but much of these technological advances like "paperless" offices means missing crucial information, records not being saves properly ect...

    Pros

Staff and other friends you make at the company!

    Cons

They say they will give you so much percentage of production but its is all adjusted after 7% reduction of the biweekly production
Mainly have Medicaid patients. So even if you have a good week the next week might just get you down to the lesser percentage. They never explain the percentage on the pay slip. So you end up working a lot more for pennies. On an average there will be something like 22- 25 pts or more everyday for one doctor. In most offices there are NO HYGIENISTS. So recall/ hygiene/ emergency/ major / minor treatment all together can be overwhelming. Barely get a lunch break. Everyone is over worked. Most of the times the pts would have to wait longer to be seen and after seating too there would be very little time for each pt-doctor interaction. Managers want you to complete all quadrant fillings on most patients in a day. Very aggressive treatment planning expected from doctors. They barely do any CDE trainings for their staff. Doctors are not sponsored the malpractice or disability insurance. Chairs used in clinics are age old. Removable prosthesis is better not done here! Because they want to do a lot of cost cutting and want you to omit important steps and then the dentures won't fit. Bonus was a 30-50 $ coupon! They just say good things on their website but join this only if you are up for the challenge of working like a machine 4 days a week and alternate Saturdays!

    Advice to Management

Need to update your inventory for newer better dental materials. Chairs, handpieces, toffelmire, impression materials, burs, articulating paper is as thick as a regular paper!!!!
