I have been working at West Coast Sand & Gravel full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

You get to learn a lot. That's really about it.

    Cons

Hours suck. Really bad. I don't like their management style. You get written up for pretty much anything and it messes with your monthly bonus. Their monthly bonus program is really just a "you could've had this money, but seeing as you're only human and not perfect, you're not getting $250 this month". They sneak your PTO into your check (biweekly pay) so as to not encourage you to take time off. The Only people really...

    Advice to Management

No one is perfect and though I rarely made mistakes, I felt that I paid for them well beyond what was necessary.

I worked at West Coast Sand & Gravel full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

West Coast has been around for a long time. They have mastered the art of networking. It is a family owned business. Dispatch is very fair. If you do what you are supposed to do you will have no problems. If you apply to west coast and just do your job. You can stay until its time to retire. They have contracts with a couple companies that keep them busy even on the slow days. (Slow days are far and few between). They...

    Cons

There is a small handful of non-white racist drivers. There is 4 Yards ran by the Buena Park Dispatch. The drivers out of the Buena Park yard are very disrespectful to the drivers of the Satellite Yards in Corona Irwindale and Colton. Long Hours. Traffic on the 91 (Might not actually be a con if you don’t have anger problems) most of the problems at West Coast come from the drivers not the management. sometimes...

Pay more attention to whats really going on. Get the big picture before you finalize a plan. Create your own “Smith System” for management. Thank you for the opportunity that you did give me. Keep up the hard work!

    Pros

50 to 70 hours a week with weekend off

    Cons

Benefits are a joke management and dispatchers are a joke

    Advice to Management

Almost 5 years with company they don't care about driver's they will hire unexperienced driver's starting them out more than driver's who have been with the company for awhile and tell you oh well start working weekends and in a year or so we can talk

    Cons

    Pros

If your looking for 50-70 hours a week. This is the place. Home every night or go over the road and be home every weekend.

    Cons

Not really certain they care about us. The bonus is hard to get. They charge you for wear and tear.

I have been working at West Coast Sand & Gravel

    Pros

Well maintained fleet. Some good driver that are team players

    Cons

Pay is horrible. They work you long hours and can careless for there drivers 50cent raises Wc is garbage. They like old drivers that will not be hired elsewhere so that they can keep paying 16 dollars an hour and benefits just as bad as pay

    Advice to Management

Value your drivers that really work hard not the ones who are polishing there trucks and work less. Also your lazy drivers that waste time at job site

I worked at West Coast Sand & Gravel full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

You'll receive a low wage check every two weeks...

    Cons

Too many to list....don't be fooled

    Advice to Management

Appreciate all your dedicated employees, give them at least an hourly wage that is equivalent to the going rate/scale. Company works their drivers to death at an hourly rate that is far below the going rate...its sad...their attitude is take it or leave it...

I have been working at West Coast Sand & Gravel full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Iv been working with this company as a driver almost two years. This is also my 23rd year as a driver and with in that time this is my 4th employer. And I plan to stay here until my last working day. I feel this is one of the last trucking companies that relize drivers are a big part of the companies success. I personally have been treated with respect , dignity and honesty from day one. Maybe because I show up on time...
