Great Place For Career Development
Jun 8, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working at West Coast gives me the best of all worlds when it comes to doing my job. First, they give me freedom to integrate new strategies if I think they will grow the business. Secondly, they are willing to provide the necessary resources in order for me to succeed. Lastly, they are really good at recognizing hard work through pay increases, bonuses and awards. Unlike companies I’ve worked for in the past that use a top-down approach, West Coast Self-Storage is more peer-to-peer where good ideas are acknowledged no matter where they come from.
Cons
None that I can think of.

Pay could be a bit higher

Please, don’t waste your time!
Mar 25, 2022 - Store Manager in Lacey, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I wish there was something I could list that was good.
Cons
Do NOT work here If you want an employer that actually cares about you. First off, when you are hired on you are promised all these great incentives that overcome the low pay, and that’s why they have them. They promise a 10% quarterly payout bonus based on over-budget and that is split 60/40 between manager and assistant manager. BEWARE! They will not pay out the 10% if it is just you working alone for the whole month without an assistant manager, they will keep the rest and basically tell you to deal with it, although they did not have to pay the wage of another employee. On top of that, they also take another 50% of the 10% and hold it till the end of the year, to hold you hostage. This is absolutely unfair as I had to work as if I was both the manager and assistant manager for a few months as the company could not keep employees due to similar issues as this (low pay). This occurred multiple times with me and it has occurred across the company. They figure out any possible way to not pay you YOUR hard-earned bonuses. Please seek employment elsewhere because this is not a company that you want to work for. Don’t let them lead you on as I was, because in the end they are not acting in the best interest of the employees or investors. On top of all of this, they take the retirement match back if you haven’t worked for a certain amount of years. They never disclosed this.

Training Manager
Sep 9, 2021 - Training Manager in Kennewick, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
West Coast promotes an environment that allows employees to be active in the decision making process of everyday business activities, and provides the tools to give employees the ability to make those decisions based on individual market dynamics. West Coast also provides a bonus structure that is directly linked to business development, encouraging, motivating, and empowering employees to make those important business decisions on a daily basis. If an individual is willing to start and learn on the ground floor, the opportunities to advance are available as West Coast is a rapidly growing company.
Cons
For new candidates with a desire to advance with West Coast, the starting wages will seem a little low. But as stated in the pros, the opportunity to advance is readily available . And with a little hard work & a little time, the earning potential and long term career opportunity is there.
