    Pros

    Ten weeks of paid training.

    Cons

The position was advertised as a customer service position but, during the last week of training, it turned into sales. Instead of helping customers we were expected to up-sell services by any means. We were told that our pay would increase after training but it never happened. Any salary increase was contingent upon how much we were able to sell. Training was very unprofessional and sometimes we were exposed to extremely inappropriate behavior. A lot of people walked away because of the incredibly rude training staff. Some left after realizing the extent of their duties. We were expected to verify accounts, solve customer issues (billing, technical, questions, etc.), and make changes to accounts; all while chatting up the customer to sell ridiculously overpriced services. Supervisors encouraged, and some demanded, dishonest and unethical tactics to ensure sales. As time went on, requirements changed. At first we were customer service representatives. Then we were pressured to perform hard core sales. Then we were threatened with termination if enough sales weren't made. It was easy to be reprimanded and get bad reviews on your company record. For instance, everyone was allowed three minutes for a limited number of bathroom breaks; if you took any longer, your employee record was noted and you would receive an automated notice of your infraction. The three minutes included the time you had to take to log out of multiple software applications, walk across a crowded sales floor, and log back in to your computer station. Sometimes it would take time to find a working computer station. If you logged in even a second after your shift began, you were reprimanded. They listened to calls and demanded that you finish with each customer in seven minutes or less, regardless of the issues you had to resolve, and aggressively sell. When I began there I stressed that I needed a regular schedule but I would find regular changes. Sometimes they expected me to drive in just to cover for twenty or thirty minutes outside of my regular hours. It was a loud and miserably rude work environment. Lots of unnecessary stress.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with potential employees. There are many people who don't mind using hard sell tactics to make money and some even have experience. Consider your company's reputation the next time you expect your employees to be dishonest with customers. Provide professional sales training and let potential employees know that it is a sales position and pay is contingent upon sales performance. Let them know that they are on call outside of their regular shift and don't expect anyone to drive any significant distance to work for such short periods. Also, limiting bathroom breaks and timing employees is humiliating and bad for morale overall.

    Pros

They have good benefits and decent pay for someone without a college degree. Unlimited overtime is also a big plus. They also offer tuition reimbursement.

The management isn't that great, unorganized, and high turnover rates. I've had 4 different supervisors and I've only worked there for 6 months

I have been working at West Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good paying job and good people to work with.

    Cons

it was hard trying to get a schedule change from full time to part time people still in school and the supervisor made some poor choices sometimes. They would send a lot of people home if the call volume was low then the rest of us would end up in a never ending queue and sometimes we had to stay over 30 mins past our shifts.
