I worked at West Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fare compensation and ok benefits. Enjoyed interaction with co-workers and a few managers. Good learning experience (both good & bad).

    Cons

Too many layers of management; not an employee centric company; high turnover; higher up management & CFO, CEO etc would receive bonuses even when they cut bonuses for employees

    Advice to Management

Sadly, it doesn't matter as they won't take action to good advice

I worked at West Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

More InfoSec work than employees available

    Cons

Long hours, no appreciation, bias against older workers, 4X normal middle management, little or no reviews, no raise in pay for 3 years, no cost of living raises.

    Advice to Management

Conduct normal reviews, at least have a SIP raise, stress team work among departments in ETS, give me my job back.

I have been working at West Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Expectations are surprisingly low and job requirements are as well.

    Cons

    Security isnt a high concern.
Making meaningful change is actively fought against.
The company will buy a product and force you to use it without consulting the development teams.
Deadlines are absolute, but you will be forced into taking risks.
Requirements are nonexistent or not meaningful enough to actually build anything with.

    Advice to Management

You are the problem. When developers come to you with ideas embrace them. Make strides to actually get developers in a position to implement their ideas.

I worked at West Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Steady hours, decent work environment.

    Cons

Too many chiefs and not enough injuns! The "Area Managers" better known as team leads, were VERY micro managerial. The turnover rate in this department was beyond ridiculous! Training was supposed to be 10 days over 2 weeks which was nowhere near enough for the amount of information you had to know and be able to dispense to your customers. Of the 10 days we only actually trained for 4. The rest of the time we sat on the floor where we were supposed to "shadow" current staff. It was totally pointless and useless as they had no way you could plug into the phone to over hear what was being discussed regarding an "issue", nor did they have time to explain to you what exactly they were doing as it pertains to what the issue was and how they were resolving it. One day, my "mentor' was so engrossed in what he was doing, I got and left for an hour, came back and sat at a vacant desk for the rest of the day for like 3 days straight, surfing the net on my phone! The trainers never followed up to see how we were doing, that place was just a total mess!!! What little I did learn, I learned ON THE JOB!

    Advice to Management

Fortunately, West has sold out to a new company, and that division I worked in was downsized dramatically from what I'm told. So to the new owners, INVEST IN YOUR EMPLOYEES! Give them the proper training and resources they NEED to do their JOB! I don't know if the turnover rate is still the same, but it was jaw dropping how people would get up at the beginning of their shift and storm out, or people would go to lunch and never come back, or people would come into the facility in the middle of the night, pack their things and NOT RETURN! Treat your employees like the 30, 40, 50 and 60 year olds they are! Nobody needs to be hovered over! If you don't trust them to do the job - YOU DO IT!

I have been working at West Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent group of people to work with! The company is continuing to inmprove benefits by adding more paid holidays and increasing the amount of PTO awarded! There are always plenty of advancement opportunities! West does a great job of promoting internal employees.

    Cons

Constantly changing, but I don't personally view this as a con.

    Pros

Great employees and co-workers to help get you through the day. Company did allow some team building exercises which helped the employees get to know each other better.

    Cons

Where to begin.... Most of the management was terrible. No back bone, wouldn't stand up for their employees. Was part of the company that was contracted through AT&T. AT&T is a joke of itself. Many things were falling apart and would not replace them in the facility. Very high stress environment with little compensation for the work actually completed.

    Advice to Management

Take a minute to get out of your office, go down to the areas where your employees are working and ask yourself whether or not you would be happy working in an environment like they are.
