The Work-Life Bowl

Accenture

I don’t know if this belongs in this bowl but dunno who else to ask - I’m about to upgrade my furniture for the first time ever and am going to buy a sectional, light gray or neutral. Love the mid century modern look + deep seat cushions. I don’t want to wait 6-9 weeks for a custom one like most of West Elm. Where should I buy?

    Pros

Fun, creative environment, good coworkers, nice assortment of products, pretty good employee discount, nice location. Overall good place to work.

    Cons

Not much of appreciation of employees, not enough understanding of inspiring and motivating people, sometimes too much drama in a back room. Some managers need to improve their people skills dramatically.

    Great discount, but poor management

    Pros

Great discount that can be used at all companies owned by Williams Sonoma Inc and awesome employee sample sales.

    Cons

Management turning a blind eye to disconnects within each division. Lack of training, communication and strong leadership. The increasingly high turnover rate & lack of training causes employees to have incorrect knowledge of processes therefore spreading the incorrect info to new hires. It's a vicious cycle that unfortunately has not been broken.

Very very small pay raises for Sales Associates .

    Pros

Offers good discount for employee purchases. Nice products that's easy to sell. Flexible schedule. Meeting and helping nice customers furnish their homes. Really love the products

    Cons

Low wage, few promotion from within High turnover because of low wages. Regardless of the store success the revenue is never shared. Only higher levels that already make high income get bonuses not the Sales Associate.

    Pros

The employee discount and the friendly employees that work with the team.

    Cons

LACK OF COMMUNICATION throughout the whole team and starts from the top. As an employee, I would have to do the same task over more than once because of the failure to communicate with the manager and corporate. There are also a few employees that have been working for the company since the retail store location opened up and some tend to start drama and creates a toxic work environment. How SOME of the management treats employees is unacceptable. The favoritism and degrading comments to fellow employees does not make it a enjoyable place to work. Many employees have also complained about specific managers and nothing gets done about it doesn't help the situation either. Also, when we have to talk about our issues to our managers, it would be nice if there was actually an "open door policy" and if they could respect that the issues be contained between the employee and the manager.

    Corporate Policies Not So Great

Aug 26, 2020 - Sales Associate in Costa Mesa, CA

    Pros

The team I worked with at South Coast Plaza was amazing. My managers always took pride in making sure employees felt heard and taken care of. Great employee discount (40%), and there were always great new products launching in the store which made the environment super inspiring and fun.

    Cons

Corporate customer service representatives were always hard to reach and talk to, and their policies were not so great, so customers had a lot of order issues and customer service issues alllll the time that we had to try to hash out ourselves with the customer.
