I have been working at West Florida Hospital part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Beautiful exterior , clean interior, and quiet.

    Cons

HR are RUDE! Computer software is beyond outdated (used same software over 20 years ago). Staff is very pleasant to patients and visitors but not as friendly to co-workers.

    Advice to Management

Dear Management, Be part of the solution and quit being part of the problem! I have tried to communicate with management and they seem disinterested in anything I attempt to say. What makes it more frustrating- not like anyone can go and discuss with HR to attempt to resolve issues. So management, if you want to remain the same.. do not expect to have happy employees!

I worked at West Florida Hospital full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Some of my coworkers were great.

      Cons

Consistent pay errors and lack of accountability for anyone not at the bottom of the totem pole

      Advice to Management

Check your people and hold them accountable, they are screwing up peoples checks to the point they can't pay their bills.

I have been working at West Florida Hospital full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

There is an atmosphere of pride in the workplace; employees are friendly and appear happy with their job.

      Cons

Nursing leadership does not advocate for nurses; understaffing common without regard to safe nurse/patient ratios.

      Advice to Management

Nursing leadership should advocate for safe nurse/patient ratios and not worry about dust on a computer monitor; make appearances to staff and walk around the facility; rarely see any management level personnel. “Just Because” meals supposedly a perk that employees have to pay taxes on even if they don’t receive the meal.

I have been working at West Florida Hospital full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Most of the people you work with are great! The surgeons are awesome!

      Cons

Management sucks! No one has your back or stands up for you. Management treats you like you have anything else going on in your life other than work but do not hold themselves to the same standards.

      Advice to Management

Really listen to your people. If you ask for their opinion, pay attention to their replies. Treat your people the way you would want your son or daughter treated by their boss-with respect, dignity, and compassion. LEAD BY EXAMPLE! Your actions speak way louder than your words!

I have been working at West Florida Hospital full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Encouraging management, education opportunities, knowledgeable staff

      Cons

Lack of communication, lack of consistent management and administration

      Advice to Management

You have intelligent and experienced staff who are vital to the hospital. Keeping them informed and treating them as though you understand they have the high amount of knowledge will get you far. Staff retention is the most important component in good team work!

I worked at West Florida Hospital part-time for more than a year

      Pros

      Good food court near Pavilion

      Cons

Everything! Managed like a sweet shop...staff run themselves ragged trying to discharge all morning them admit as many patients as possible to keep the cash flowing. High staff turnover with managers rarely visible or hiding out. I trim manager better but not enough to meet the demands..A LOT OF TRAVEL STAFF USED.

      Advice to Management

Get more staff and stronger managers.

I worked at West Florida Hospital full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Some coworkers are great workers. Usually have supplies so we can do our jobs

      Cons

Supervisors not knowing how to schedule or handle their employees. Supervisors don't back their employees.

      Advice to Management

Educate management. Give management classes. Don't abuse your good workers and make them pull all the weight while allowing others to show up when wanted and to disappear throughout the day.
