    Advice to Management

The managers I have worked for have been great

I worked at West Georgia Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I had wonderful coworkers and loved meeting and caring for my patients. I always had the supplies I needed to care for them. That is taken for granted at other facilities. The schedule was doable, though 12 hour shifts are tough on anyone. Having a good team behind you helps. Now that the new organization has taken over the facility, I hope there will be great things in store for a community hospital in a high need area.

    Cons

The challenge of having a good team behind you is having a terrible manager and upper management that cause the good hard working employees to leave because they feel overworked, unappreciated, and undervalued. There was no praise or accolades, certainly no bonuses after the multimillion dollar addition. My manager made several promises she never kept, she prevented me from transferring to a different department so another less qualified staff member could have the position and I still feel betrayed.

    Advice to Management

I recommend that managers be loyal, truthful, and support their staff to gain thier trust and respect. I also believe the staff on the floor in direct patient contact need to be appreciated and cared for abundantly. These are the faces the patients see; smiling, stressed, overworked, happy, joyful, annoyed. Help make your staff happy to go to work every day!

I have been working at West Georgia Health System part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They let their employees know they are appreciated. As a therapist I do not feel pressured to overcharge or see a patient for more minutes than they need to make a RUGs category. Management supports continuing education of their therapists.

    Cons

The physical environments of the hospital and especially of the attached nursing home Florence Hand are outdated. This site requires 20 words

    Advice to Management

Keep showing your employees your appreciation for their efforts. Seriously consider investing in a remodel or complete overhaul of FHH.

I worked at West Georgia Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits for a small town.

    Cons

Politics as usual. Upper management is not very receptive to ideas from the "commoners". State of the art buildings cost in the millions and not quite sure how this hospital can have enough revenue to keep it up.

    Pros

Awesome place to work. Very satisfying, and a great company.

    Cons

Very stressful work environment. 12 hours mostly on your feet. Huge decision making.

    Advice to Management

Would like more employee appreciation for Job well done. Leadership is very much "On their game" at WGHS.

    Pros

The people and the sense of community are the best reasons to work here. As is normal in healthcare, salaries go the the clinically astute personnel, but everyone here is treated like an integral part of this community. Sure there are bad managers who treat employees poorly, but they are being discovered and rooted out. A healthy hospital staff starts with a happy workforce, and WGHS is doing their honest best to make that a reality.

    Cons

The pay for non-clinical staff is less than ideal. Some of the top ranges for my position are right around the starting figures at other companies. Also, managers do not get merit increases, so there is little incentive for someone to want to move up to a management position.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management is already listening to feedback from their employees.
