      Pros

Over the past 12 months, its clear that leadership care about the direction West Monroe is going. Significant investments in employees and strategy have been put in motion, communicated to the firm, and executed.

      Cons

Expectations are to wear many hats in a single role

High Growth Company with a Startup Mindset

Jun 23, 2021 - Senior Consultant in Minneapolis, MN
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Great people, who invest in you if you invest in them - Great Culture, if you're extroverted - Flexible work arrangements, if you'd like to work from home at the office or at the client site

      Cons

      - Unclear expectation/management, as the firms lacks defined roles, processes and methodologies when it comes to client compared to industry peers - poor work life balance; you're expected to do as much for your local office as you are your clients - extremely short engagements, depending on the practice. Diligences can be killer.

Great culture, if you're a white man

Jun 12, 2021 - Consultant in San Francisco, CA

      Pros

The fridge is always stocked with alcohol, unlimited PTO, nice training opportunities, the people are fun if you're into partying

      Cons

There are basically no women in M&A and you'd think it was the 50s with how misogynistic and fratty the Chicago office is. A colleague of mine overheard one of the directors rating women on one occasion, and talking about snorting coke on another. West Coast isn't all that great either, when LA was interviewing a woman for an M&A position they had to fly a female manager down from Seattle because there weren't any women in leadership roles any closer. It's a boys club throughout the company, no matter what location you're at. At the 2019 retreat in SF one of the senior managers was written up for sexual harassment, he only finally lost his job 9 months later due to the pandemic budget cuts. Pay was bad, they always went on and on about how much you're actually getting due to the ESOP program but you need to be with the company at least 3 years and then through Feb for that to actually kick in. Also annoyed me that they included the value of training into the total compensation package. Why would mandatory training be considered compensation? That cost should be on the company. Hiring was a likability thing, which is how it goes with any firm, but they would hire a man with a bachelor's degree from some no name school as a senior consultant but then a woman with more experience and bigger names (I'm talking McKinsey experience with a master's from Stanford) would be hired as an experienced consultant.

Great company to start any career (or end)

Mar 24, 2021 - Senior Consultant - Technology in Seattle, WA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Company culture is can't be beat! Breadth and depth of types of projects are very broad, so people who work with West Monroe will have the ability to explore a ton of different areas. If you stay long enough, ESOP could turn out to be an amazing fiscal incentive.

      Cons

Base Salary is "market based" and not merit based. So not matter how hard you work, your base salary wont really change. Only your Bonus, which you aren't guaranteed anyways, gets fluctuated based on performance. Which is not a good structure in my opinion. Benefits are not the best, but also not the worst, likely in the middle. Side perks that existed before covid, such as happy hours, team bonding events, collaborative fun opportunities, etc, no longer exist in a post-covid world and who knows how it will look moving forward.

      Pros

Leadership cares about employees and invests a lot in professional development of individuals. Managers (and Senior Consultants) are given a lot of ownership over projects/workstreams.

      Cons

I have worked on a few unengaging, short projects.
