Thanks for your feedback (particularly about management!). I am always keen to ensure there is a vibrant internal job market within Westcoast and the business can demonstrate this well. Inevitably, with a flat management structure, opportunities to progress into a management role ...

I have been working at Westcoast Ltd. full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Westcoast are ambitious, striving to grow and to exceed company targets. Westcoast are not happy standing still, meaning that some employees have opportunities to grow and learn. Westcoast has a flexible culture that promotes free thinking.

    Cons

Westcoast sometimes keeps employees that are not fit for purpose, or fails to address short comings. Westcoast are very much sales driven which means good employees in other departments are not noticed, encouraged, or developed. Westcoast lacks performance reviews or goal setting targets.

    Advice to Management

Management clearly have the right skills to take the company forward, there are some really goods initiatives at work. My advice would be to really assess your biggest asset, staff at all levels. Performance reviews need to be in place.

I worked at Westcoast Ltd. full-time

    Pros

The upper echelon management is spearheaded by a very passionate and dedicated Alex Tatham whom I believe could inspire anybody. He has done wonders for the business, that I cannot fault and I am certain that Joe is enjoying the benefits of such a focused MD.

    Cons

The company has a high turnover of general sales account managers of which for many it is their first foray in the I.T industry. There is an incestuous culture than exists within the lower ranked management team's and team supervisors. This onion like layer consists of multiple supervisory, team management, group management with many of these positions being filled by a clique group that can make you feel very... much an outsider. There was often a childish nature to the office and it was this that made my decision to seek new pastures as I had a family bereavement and had to leave the office early unfortunately this was accompanied by the entire sales floor clapping and jeering with shouts of "I wish I could leave early" they didn't know my circumstances but that doesn't excuse it either.

    Advice to Management

I've been welcomed with open arms at Westcoast, both at the head office and Cloud where I'll be working. I'm excited about the possibilities that are open before me, and know that I have every opportunity to make my own mark in this £2.5bn company. Benefits include extensive training, reasonable work hours, generous renumeration, excellent camaraderie. There are a couple of negative reviews on here - but dear... reader, please understand the context - there are 1,600 employees at this business (Jan 2019) - everyone I've met so far seems happy in the role. Advice to management? I don't have any. The MD came into the training session and explained we can talk to him any time we want to, about any idea we have. I'd do THAT rather than put something on Linkedin!. I can't wait to repay their faith in me with my own performances.

I have been working at Westcoast Ltd. full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I've found there is so much potential and opportunity to grow, either through training or through progression. Everyone is very open and approachable, so it's easy to build relationships and get involved with different things that are going on. It's also really fast-paced, so you're always busy!

    Cons

Because there is a lot of opportunity and ideas for projects/initiatives, and everyone is so busy, sometimes it's a bit frustrating trying to get things rolling. You have to be patient to get things going, and keep on top of them or they get lost in the fray. However people are generally keen to be part of these things, so it's not hard to get buy-in from your colleagues.

    Advice to Management

There is a great culture, values and vision, and lots of great things that go on across the business. These aren't always communicated out to every team and department when they happen, so it would be good to see more of what other teams are doing outside of the quarterly newsletter.
