I have been working at Westcore Properties full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This mid-sized company (50-75 employees) is a a real estate transaction focused organization. Company leadership focused on creating growth opportunities within for employees. Opportunity for "flex" hours 7am-4pm, 8am-5pm, or 9am-6pm for salaried employees.

Each department is different and has different management theories. Could be good or bad.

Being a small company, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself in many different job functions.

Company does annual bonuses and has a nice 401k match. Also does fun events and brings all satellite offices to San Diego every other year for Christmas party.

    Cons

Laissez faire management and no standardized processes.
Executive leadership are not always available. Can come back into a deal after being away for weeks and throw us down tangential paths.

    Advice to Management

Doing a good job. Keep it up.

    Cons

Not too many cons. Is a good place to work overall

    Advice to Management

Allow employees more chances for advancement

    Pros

Top management is awesome; open, engaging, intelligent and passionate about what they do.
Very dynamic environment that creates endless learning opportunities and new challenges.

    Cons

So dynamic that it borders on chaos. Middle management.

I worked at Westcore Properties full-time

    Pros

great opportunity to learn and grow in the commercial real estate development industry. Have the opportunity to have direct access to big projects

    Cons

Terrible pay and complete lack of mentorship. You;re pretty much entirely on your own from day one. You figure the whole job out on your own.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention and acknowledge your employees and the value they bring. Pay is obviously not the reason they are with the company, so mentor and give them real world/applicable education.

I have been working at Westcore Properties full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The leadership of this company is focused on growing the company and setting up employees with a career path. (The CAO discussed in a previous post has been gone for a year and a half). It is a relatively small company and they try to provide fun events for employees to enjoy themselves outside of the office. It is a transaction oriented company, so there are times that it can be stressful with longer hours. That said, overall work hours are low 8:00-5:00 is normal and the management try to celebrate successes with employees that made great efforts. Great benefits and bonus packages as well as CPE reimbursements.

    Cons

Growing companies can sometimes lack established processes, but this also gives others a chance to get involved in something outside of their standard role.

    Advice to Management

Just keep doing what you're doing

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Westcore Properties full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you're a robot, you'll fit in well. Good benefits. Not a lot of overtime.

    Cons

Accounting head not interested in your contributions beyond putting out a financial report. CAO takes his favorite team members with him when he goes from one company to the next so if he goes to your company, expect to be out of a job. He'll replace you with his own members. No good career path.

    Advice to Management

Listen to ideas from team members. Your way is not the only way. Some accountants are actually out of the box thinkers.
