    Pros

There are pockets of intelligent and capable people. So capable they carry the company on their backs doing 90% of the work. If you're smart, able to carry a heavy workload and are not easily frustrated by lack of recognition, this is an ideal work environment.

    Free coffee

    Annual bonus

    Cons

    Poor benefits.

    Weak HR department.

Senior management placed based on who they know and not what they know.

Ineffective implementation of restructure and change due to haste, poor planning and incomplete execution.

    Advice to Management

Sr. Management, on the rare occasion you ask your employees questions, take the time to listen to the answers.

Listen to your employees when they tell you something isn't working instead of turning a blind eye and a deaf ear. Doing nothing and hoping it fixes itself, isn't a solution; and waiting for one of a small core group of capable employees in another department to come in and fix it isn't a solution either.

I worked at Western Alliance Bank full-time

    Pros

Competitive salary and bonuses and good middle management. I like Sarver, President/CEO and good Operations team. Hardworking individuals and the bank focuses on service which is well received by the customers.

    Cons

HR needs some serious help. They should be completely revamped and probably should just be outsourced. Instead of firing/re-hiring IT people all the time, try hiring HR team that can hire good people and promote the bank's benefits and not talk badly about bank dept's and don't promote company loyalty. Training Dept should get a whole new team as well.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your lower levels more, they affect your customers outlook on the bank a lot. Unhappy employees, unhappy customers.

    Pros

Meet some great people while working there.

    Cons

There is no corporate HR function. Senior Management was not organized and communication was poor. The Internal Audit department lacked experience and was poorly managed. The company has no clear mission.

    Advice to Management

Management should consolidate the banks and establish an experienced Audit and Risk departments.
