    Pros

    They value work/ life/ balance.

    Cons

They have had many layoffs recently

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be “like the competitors”. The companies core competency is that it is different than most of the other Silicon Valley tech company’s. Embrace it and lead, stop trying to follow.

    Pros

Very flexible and good work/life balance.

    Cons

Low company morale, going through lots of change and affecting people's mood and emotions.

    Advice to Management

Give opportunities to internal candidates in Finance, stop giving hard-working people such harsh criticism when your company isn't doing so well and yet your being so picky on who to promote to Manager?

Interesting assignments. Always work to do, but not always stressed for schedule, good work-life balance. Good health insurance.

After HGST merger, the company shifted from wanting senior engineers to own chunks of the design, into wanting junior engineers that can be shifted around as needed.

    Pros

My overall experience is great. The job is sometimes challenging but interesting. The HR team provides a lot of activities and socials for the interns. People are nice with each other, and company culture is good. Busy work hours but good work-life balance.

    Cons

Not enough technical help or training provided for interns so we have to learn many new stuff by ourselves.

I worked at Western Digital for less than a year

    Pros

The work/life balance is great. Coworkers are knowledgeable and friendly to the lesser experienced. Despite being a big company, a sense of community is still established, like playing volleyball with coworkers after work. True flexible work hours and the ability to work remotely. Employee discounts on products are great. Plenty of residential areas close to the site.

    Cons

At times there are disconnects between engineering and management.
