I worked at Western Growers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Turn over is very high, this makes them desperate to hire so you have more salary negotiating power

    Cons

Leadership is more of a dictatorship. Thinking is outdated and very emotionally driven. Employee's tend to work with the mentality that they just don't want to get in trouble so nobody takes ownership of projects.

    Advice to Management

    Overhaul top leadership.

I have been working at Western Growers full-time

    Pros

They care about their employees, have a great benefit package, and have provided numerous opportunities for learning, growth and promotions.

    Cons

It is fast paced and requires employees to engage in the work they do. This isn't a place to just show up and get a pay check.

    Advice to Management

Continue to add educational opportunities for all levels of staff

I have been working at Western Growers full-time

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities and room for growth.

    Cons

Currently going through several changes and new procedures.

    Advice to Management

Genuinely embrace the open door policy and welcome feedback and ideas. Provide constructive criticism. No news is not necessarily good news in this case, communication is a must.

    Pros

I see some people who basically just laugh, and play around all day. Just avoid being in WGAT, unless you are sales or marketing

    Cons

Avoid! run! Especially if you are female, as they enjoy acting like we live in the mad Men age. The only women who succeed either are enablers to this style or spend a lot of time with their bosses behind closed doors. They will say the right things, but no one follows up to their words.

    Advice to Management

Stop telling us the culture, and ask to see what it actually is.

I worked at Western Growers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some awesome employees here that have great ideas, go above and beyond and make working there tolerable. However, they will probably quit once they see the light.

The benefits were decent but I've had better. Plus all of your medical claims are processed/paid for by them! Can you say conflict of interest?

    Cons

First off, if you're a female don't even bother going to work here. Western Growers is run by a bunch of men who only want to promote other men. If they could they'd probably still be smoking and drinking in the offices and sleeping with their assistants. I've seen women at all levels treated as inferior employees. They are NOT as progressive and as innovative as they'd like you to think.

They blow immense amounts of money on upper management salaries, cars, travel and events yet give their employees measly raises, if any.

Human Resources is a joke. Don't expect a shoulder to cry on, an ear to talk to and definitely don't trust them with any confidential information. This is not the kind of HR department that's looking out for the little guys.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times! Promote more women and bring their voices to the table.

    Pros

Work here only if you are desperate for a job.

    Cons

It's an old boys club and you will never be one of them. Negative culture. Poor pay, no respect.

    Advice to Management

    Time to retire.

I worked at Western Growers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

In my department it felt like family

    Cons

New changes were made within the company and less thought about the affect that it will have on the employees

    Advice to Management

    No need to micro manage
