I worked at Western Psychological Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are nice and the overall job is not very difficult.

    Cons

To much interoffice politics for such a small company. It can and will either driver you crazy or drive you out and away.

    Advice to Management

Work on your upper level management. Most of the managers are great, but some need training. I was lucky enough to have a great manager. Ask questions, look at them not through them, and get your hands dirty every now and then.

I worked at Western Psychological Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smart and friendly co-workers, great benefits, work events and parties. Awesome work place, the building is awesome and it is easy to converse and work with different departments. CEO took over from his father and is great, he really cares about his employees and the companies mission.

    Cons

Not too many cons at this company, sometimes projects can slow down through different process steps but everything always finishes smooth.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work as a fun place to work, every day at the office was a great one surrounded by enthusiastic people.

I have been working at Western Psychological Services full-time

    Pros

Good company culture. Big parties when a product is launched or a sales goal is met. PTO is nice.

    Cons

Pay is low. Feel like I am being taken advantage of for the work I put in. Currently have an offer for a similar job at another company for almost $10,000 more base salary a year.

    Advice to Management

Pay your talent well or lose them.

I worked at Western Psychological Services full-time

    Pros

Some good people there, company tries to promote a culture of collaboration, nice facility, casual environment, but beware the undercurrents.

    Cons

Not all that it is touted to be, lots of politics and it seems that the longer you stay, the less you are valued. Pay is way below industry standards and quite honestly, unless you are a licensed psychologist, growth in both pay and responsibility are limited. A good stepping stone, but not much more than that if you have a Bachelors or higher.

    Advice to Management

Value the employees you have. Consider removing or revamping the Steering Committee Corporate structure, pay employees better and value loyalty.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Western Psychological Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people at WPS are amazing. You can make lots of friends and for the most part you will like the people you work with.

    Cons

Turnover is incredibly high in the last three years. They are slow to hire and quick to fire. The company lacks some serious direction and unless you're looking to work as a PD, there is very little room for growth. It has changed in the last five years from a company that had not fired anyone to a company that shows little compassion for its dedicated workers. It was once deemed a friendly family owned business and has become a completely numbers driven business, with no real vision and very little positive outlook.

    Advice to Management

Give people room to grow. Promote those that deserve it and be more open. Stop trying to force culture down peoples throat and just let it happen naturally. Everybody is on watch because so many people get fired week in and week out. There is very little trust towards leadership because they rarely ever take time to listen to what employees really want. Tell the CEO to really listen and be more in touch with his workers.

I worked at Western Psychological Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

WPS has a great core group of faithful employees who believe in their mission and who are dedicated to the betterment of the science.

    Cons

The companies so-called "core values" are a shell that add gloss to a shaky "leadership-team" led by a young, confident owner who more often than not demonstrated the inability to make sound internal business decisions which led to clashing and overall lack of true leadership.

    Advice to Management
