I worked at Western Refining full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great chances for advancement if your willing to work hard. DMs and OMs expect a lot but 100% customer satisfaction isn't easy yet they manage to do it. Follow the rules and complete your duties, you will be noticed. Great employees and great benefits.

    Cons

Not really a CON but this is a corp. with many stores, they know what works and what doesn't. Change doesn't come easy, and may never come but they welcome your input.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for all you've taught me, for the challanges and for allowing me to grow. Keep finding good people and making them great.

I worked at Western Refining part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are friendly. My boss was a great guy. As a beginning and a newcomer, I was welcomed and the staff in the marketing department were helpful and friendly.

    Cons

It's a corp, so everything has to be approved and this and that all the way up the ladder.

    Advice to Management

Play some music in the office. It sounds like a morgue.

    Pros

The company is putting a lot of effort in infrastructure and employee growth.
The company is focusing in employing new methodology and new processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
The company has a learning environment that. Halle fed employees to develop new ways to do things.
Given the company size it is possible to get exposure to a lot of areas and fields

    Cons

    Fear of change from old
Timer employees. Some lack of ownership from some team members and fear of taking decisions.

I have been working at Western Refining full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits: Excellent. Full time employees get medical coverage from Blue Cross/Blue Shield almost immediately (dental and vision come later, however). 401k is available as well as HSA.

Hours: Working graveyard shift, hours are almost always 40 per week. Other employees at the retail store hit 40 if needed.

Crew and management: The team is truly a team. Management is accessible and willing to work with you through any issue.

Environment: Not bad. It is retail, so customer base is all over the spectrum but nothing too horrible. Safety is paramount so the conditions at store are great.

    Cons

Advancement: Opportunities abound but to move up one has to either relocate or have the individual in the spot you want do the same.

    Advice to Management

Management is fine. Little to no access to DM or higher available (at least, not that I've needed). Open door policy is in place here.

    Pros

This company is awesome, had weekly pay, benefits, and 401K, great experience, and I would recommend to anyone that was interested.

    Cons

Varied hours, however, don't apply if you can't work the hours, it's clearly stated in the interview.

It is a great environment to work at. People are great and helpful. Good resources to help you accomplish your work

    Cons

Sometimes they are long hours to work. Other than that it's a great place to work at. People are very helpful and help accomplish work as a team.
