I have been working at Westgate Resorts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    It's new everyday.
The location is perfect in my area.
    The property is nice.
There are a variety of benefits including travel discounts.

    Cons

    It's different everyday.
Communication with management is not taken seriously.
Company policy seems to only apply to certain employees and not others.
Wages are not very competitive and lower than other companies of similar business in the area.

    Advice to Management

Be more open and available to employees needing to address issues, be consistent and timely when situations are being addressed. Be respectful and instead of demanding respect from your staff you will receive respect based upon your actions. And be fair, promoting based upon physical appearance and age rather than skills is not appropriate, career advancement should be based upon skill.

    Cons

inconsistent leadership, some lack of organization, pay is slightly lower than that of similar jobs in the area

    Advice to Management

More training for management level staff, even just workshops would help. Be more consistent in applying policies and procedures. Be more conscious of how the little guy in the company feels and what it takes to do their job. BE HONEST!

I have been working at Westgate Resorts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, beautiful place to work.

    Cons

Management. Unless you are happy working 100 hours a week and never seeing your family, they will feel like you aren't doing enough.

    Advice to Management

Quit walking people out, try mentoring, coaching and supporting your team! Do you have any idea how many of your leaders/managers are looking for something else because of this unsure environment you have created?!!! You blatantly tell us you can replace any of us with someone better. Do you really think that motivates anyone???!!!

I worked at Westgate Resorts (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Vacation time, benefits, discount program with area attractions, discounts at any Westgate resorts loging, travel and advancement opportunities

    Cons

Needs better management in several departments, a lot of drama in the workplace, a lot of promotions aren't taken seriously- they're given to undeserving people and shortly taken away from them. As with anything in tourism you will work weekends and holidays.

    Advice to Management

Really put thought into promoting people and don't be wishwashy. Promote from within departments. Some managers need to know when to retire. Treat your employees with respect.

I have been working at Westgate Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Active role in giving back to the community
    Health insurance is ok
    Wellness perks
    Park perks

    Cons

CEO tells you how to vote in elections, promotes sale of wife's beauty line etc.
Managers have no training, are longtime friends and not held accountable
If you haven't been there for at least 10 years your opinion doesn't count
Communication either doesn't happen, is not correct or causes more confusion
The same problems happen again and again - nothing ever gets solved.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to lead and hold one another accountable rather than just hourly employees. Don't keep making the same (wrong) decisions because that's how it has always been done. Learn how to communicate... and that you NEED to. Stop firing people without letting them know what they did and how they can do better. Get rid of the "cons" so that people don't keep leaving. You talk a good game but don't deliver.
