    I worked at Westin full-time

    Pros

It’s like a family there, and they welcome you with open arms.

Management is smart and on top of things.

Understanding of PTO requests for vacation

    Relaxed senior management overall

Very on top of having Service Culture classes. Bravo!

Incentive points for doing great things where you can redeem for Westin products

Understanding if you work a back to back to let you stay the night.

    Cons

100 % Senior management is not open to changing old procedures.

Without seniority, you will not have a consistent schedule at all. AM/PM/Overnight, back to backs, double shifts...

    Low pay

Accounting Dept. is really on to you if you make any mistakes

    Advice to Management

hire managers or agents just for overnights. Seemed like management wouldn’t even try to change old procedures.

I have been working at Westin (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This company provides opportunities to move anywhere.

    Cons

No raises. No 401k matching. Benefits aren't great. Lots of turnover.

    Advice to Management

Less junior high school and more adulthood would be great.

I have been working at Westin full-time

    Pros

Good environment/setting. Sometimes they have free lunch.

    Cons

Very low pay, & I work at the #1 Westin in the region.

    Advice to Management

Be more fair to the employees that make the hotel run daily.

    I worked at Westin full-time

    Pros

-Most departments are filled with great people who are proud of their work.
-New GM seems to have his head on straight and has improved the business by leaps and bounds.
-After a year of working here, it is nearly guaranteed that another hotel in the area will hire you and pay an actual, livable wage.
-There isn't a better banquets team in the city!

    Cons

    -High stress customer-facing work.
-Certain members of upper management will hire and pay personal friends better than others who are better performers with more experience.
-No clear path to communicate issues. Management is slow to act on everything.
-More than once, people who were hired full-time were actually entered into the system as part-time workers without being told so which lead to missed holiday pay and no benefit accrual.
-Certain members of upper management will blatantly lie but then gaslight their employees if called out.
-Nepotism lead to managerial harassment of certain employees who ultimately quit due to unreasonable workload requests. Managers then hired a friend who did 10% of the harassed employees' work.
-Company values are never stated or brought up anywhere other than at the quarterly rallies.

    Advice to Management

-Address the source of a problem instead of reprimanding their subordinates simply because they're 'personal friends.'
-Integrating genuine paths of advancement is a necessity especially for those working higher stress roles (front desk, guest relations).
-If it is so well known that the Westin Portland Harborview is treated like a stepping stone job, why not give new workers a higher wage and additional training so as not to lose them in 6-12 months?
