I have been working at Westinghouse full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people from old Westinghouse Culture and Legacy keep the engine running but the negativity is taking over so fast. They are very close to give up.

    Cons

Senior management smiles at you today, but then lays you off tomorrow, and they keep smiling like the company is in amazing shape. They are rated so bad last couple years but ignorance is bliss for them. This is happening over several years now and it is getting worse.
In practice the performance evaluation is more like favoring friends, and family (tons of favoritism and nepotism). Your performance has no meaning. And they do not value your experience while they benefit from you during projects.
Benefits package gets cropped almost every year. The merit increases were frozen or very low for several years.
Because a lot people left the company, the current work load is unbearably high and you will not get paid for overtime.

    Advice to Management

We know you are just trying to save your seat. Please start working for the company and for the the employees or leave.

I have been working at Westinghouse full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to solve challenging technical problems and the occupation is fulfilling knowing that I am helping to provide the world with clean safe electric power. If you can handle the stress you will be well taken care of here.

    Cons

The nuclear industry isn't for everyone, the highly regulated environment requires significant attention to detail, much time working against real deadlines requiring extra effort, and the analysis methods are a bit behind the times.

    Advice to Management

Continue to break down organizational silos and maximize utilization of experienced mentors to educate the up and coming generation of engineers for continued reduction in inefficiencies due to learning curves associated with level of experience.
