I worked at Westmont Hospitality Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice people
Flexible hours, as long as you work a full day
    Work functions/holiday parties

    Cons

Not enough communication from the top down
Don't give reliable or timely feedback on job performance

    Advice to Management

Work with your employees a little more, offer more guidance, and better feedback in employee reviews to really get the most out of your employees

I have been working at Westmont Hospitality Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hourly wage is decent if you get lucky. Some are paid min wage for years and never get an advancement

    Cons

Almost every phone does not work in the rooms. Almost every room has roaches and bed bug infestations. Half these rooms still have old box tvs. All these guest complain and upset that they pay alot of money to not get half of what they paid for. And i cant help them because management does not care.
Management does not care about you as an employee either. They took away my over time from me which is against the law. They made me work 14 days in a row 24/7 but i only got paid 40 hrs of it. So im calling the labor board on them and suing them.
Also management is never involved. Im the night attendant/front desk and i have to deal with every guest issue and incident. I got shot at and the management didnt even ask if i was ok nor did they come out at check the property!

    Advice to Management

Care about your team and your guest

    Pros

Worked with some great, hard-working team members who really cared. Compensation was adequate, although not necessarily for the hours required. Fun, casual location.

    Cons

Heavy focus on $$ and not enough on the "human" side of hospitality. Not enough capital $$ invested to keep property at standards and to complete critical repairs or upgrades. No work-life balance. Upper management unsupportive, absent or unavailable especially during peak times. Overall a difficult working environment with little recognition for contributions. Benefits marginal.

    Advice to Management

Not sure where I would start. Maybe with returning to more focus on the "Hospitality" meaning of the industry at every level.

    Cons

You must be goal oriented and success driven to work here.
Satisfactory is not goal, excellence is-the bar is always raised. Could argue this is a plus, it is really a challenge not a con.

I have been working at Westmont Hospitality Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance is very reasonable (in a previous position prior to WHG, I was paying close to $400/month @$10/hr. Working for WHG I pay about $120/month for all three above-which is comparable to corporate Marriott pricing-not any franchises).

    * 401K Matching

*Room discounts- based on availability of course

*Great Staff that are willing to go in the Trenches

    *Caring and Active GM

*GM cares about what is said on the Employee
Opinion Surveys and strives to be the best GM

    *Union

*Straight to the point type of Management

    *Accountability

    *Free Lunch (property specific)

*All Managers doors are always open

    Cons

Sometimes communication is an issue. Although, everyone works together to get the issue(s) resolved quickly. Sometimes there are other employees who are rude and disrespectful to everyone.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Pros

None really, very bad place to work so much un necessary work they as you to do just to make the hotel look in great standing but at then end of it all it is a roach motel.

    Cons

Really messed up properties, horrible corporate staff. Larege turn over rate. So much Favoritism and BS. This could be a better company but it is intrusted by many high level idiots who do not care for the company's interest but only theirs, they should sell quick before the truth hits.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with experience, education, and qualifications. Dont let your idiots hire out of favoritism.
