    Pros

A good company with excellent benefits. Salary was very competitive if not one of the top paying jobs in this field

Go back to the way things were. Let employees make suggestions and listen

I have been working at Westmoreland Coal (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of the people that I work with are quite great. Of course there are always some out there but all in all, the people is what really what's still keeping me here.

    Cons

Went through way too much change in a very short amount of time, cut our benefits quite heavily, a lot of people were let go but no replacements so those left are picking up unreasonable amounts of work. A lot of people are burnt out and turnover is crazy. It happens through acquisitions but things were not well communicated at all.

    Advice to Management

Be more human and have reasonable expectations. Don't just stick to "running lean" but think of the people who are keeping the company going.
