I have been working at Weston & Sampson Engineers full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits and opportunities to work on interesting projects - if you know who to ask.

    Cons

Seeking to expand, the company has struggled with retention of junior employees and as a result has become somewhat top-heavy. This means few overt opportunities for advancement perpetuating the schism between the "lifers" and "upstarts".

    Advice to Management

Clearly define career growth opportunities for internal advancement. Promote retention by cultivating a more inclusive corporate culture and better articulation of the company mission.

    Pros

Great company culture. Upper management always working towards improvement. Great salaries and benefits. Knowledgeable staff.

    Cons

Large differences in offices. Problems in headquarters office are not the same as those in satellite offices and vice versa. Employment experiences will probably differ greatly depending on which office you work in.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of all employee talents at every opportunity, regardless of experience, location, discipline, etc.

I worked at Weston & Sampson Engineers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, a lot of flexibility to work with other teams

    Cons

Managers did not plan projects adequately therefore there were too many unnecessary project re-do's that resulted in staff having to put extra hours unpaid and focus on repetitive tasks. Professional development was slow.

    Advice to Management

Plan your projects better to help younger staff gain access to better growth opportunities.

I have been working at Weston & Sampson Engineers full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Supportive of you as a person, not just you as an employee. Very committed upper management to making a great place to spend your career.

    Cons

Very slow to fire under performers. . . "too nice". This frustrates people who work hard.

    Advice to Management

Cut the low performers sooner rather than later. They are bringing us all down.

    Advice to Management
