Doesn't have a safe culture - people are afraid to speak up
Has a blame culture, no mentoring or guidance for people to grow
Behind in their technology - has great plan but sucks at execution especially Cloud adoption

    Pros

    - Work life flexibility / balance

    Cons

    - Too much dead wood, very rarely will someone be performance managed out
    - Staff abuse work flexibility
    - Bonuses are nothing special
    - Salaries are the lowest of the Big 4 banks
    - Too many layers of approval to get anything done
    - Main source of fixing problems is to create a project, projects are usually staffed by the same BA's doing just enough to get the next gig but not enough to successfully deliver
    - Heavy meeting culture, not uncommon to have a meeting about a previous meeting

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for

I have been working at Westpac Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Depending on the area you work in, there's lots of opportunity to get exposure to a range of products and functions across the bank. Reasonable work life balance. The maternity and working arrangements are very generous if you're a younger woman starting a family.

    Cons

As a few other people have mentioned, it can be ridiculously bureaucratic. Decision making is a long, protracted process, which seems to be an attempt at avoiding responsibility by mutualising everything. Information hoarding and "managing up" are common.

    Advice to Management

Give staff their autonomy, but make them accountable for their decisions.
