I have been working at Westpac Group (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very flexible with how you work, especially around having children. Lots of people work short weeks and days from home.
Generally supportive of personal development and plenty of opportunity to move within the organisation.

    Cons

Big bureaucracy and everything that goes with it. Risk averse culture, focused on short term payback and approval by committee means it takes more effort to get an approval and funding than to do the work. Still weighed down by legacy systems and processes so nothing is cutting edge and even small changes take months and cost a fortune.

    Advice to Management

Streamline project identification and funding process. Assign budget to quickly assess initiatives and prioritise. Make BSR half yearly or quarterly, with a rolling 12 month forward view funding and pipeline.

I have been working at Westpac Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Its a good work place and team work

    Cons

Not enough staff and no relieve when you want to take a leave.Too pushy and not enough time to do training always get inturupted because of not enough staff and manager panicing. The managers not proffesional when it comes to staff they can't organise proffesionaly thats where the staff is upset. They need to be trained much more on these areas at work place and not just about sales and customers they also have to look at organising staff to have happy staff means better service as well it just works well together.

    Advice to Management

We need more staff to relieve when we take time off for leave and managers should be more trained on how to manage the staff in a proffesional way .They don't consider what their staffs is asking them.Their priority is to make their bosses happy and run their branch without listening and thinking about their staffs obligation with getting trained properly and giving enough time to be trained properly that's because they are short staffed and they don't let their bosses know, because they don't want to look bad to them.Outcome of this is if a staff is not doing their job properly, its because of lacking training which they don't get enough time to do.The managers should listen to their staff and priorities what they are saying and not just think about sales. If the staff is proffesional on their job and gets enough training properly than the sales will pick up, the customers will be happy and less mistakes made.If the staff is happy the work place will perform better. They are the ones representing your company with there performance just like yourselfs.Every work position has its own way of professionalism and getting trained properly gives that and knowledge to do it right.
