I have been working at Westpac Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Generally good support, training and progression.

Strategy is right for the time.

Focus is shifting to innovation and building capability to enhance front line and customer experience.

    Cons

Some Senior and General Managers just don't walk the talk when it comes to the strategy.

Changing culturally, but very very slow.

    Advice to Management

Get aligned, and make sure you lead from the top. There is not enough discipline in messaging and driving consistent cultural change and strategy (still too siloed).

I have been working at Westpac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Westpac has great flexible working policies (leave, holiday, sick, maternity, work from home). Pockets of the bank have great teams with great leaders

    Cons

Red tape, slow processes and pockets of the bank have old school thinking and a reluctance to change. Innovation front is poor, particularly in he core business functions. Restructuring and cost cutting recently has lead to teams being under resourced.

    Advice to Management

Hire talent and develop people based on skill and proven achievements

I worked at Westpac Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

One of the big four banks in Australia which offers a lot of opportunities and there are some truly amazing leaders working in that organisation.

    Cons

A lot of offshoring which doesn't translate back into quality of work done. Also in some pockets of the group, the culture is not as desirable as one would hope.

    Advice to Management

Management do need to think about the balance between cost and quality when formulating long term strategies
