I have been working at Westwood College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the best reasons to work at Westwood College is the fact you interact with a diverse and intelligent student body and the environment/atmosphere is inviting.

    Cons

Some of the reasons for not working at Westwood College includes their marginal salaries and advancement may not come as quickly as one may desire.

    Advice to Management

When vacant positions need to be filled, look more to your adjunct faculty staff to fill those positions.

    Pros

Felt supported, materials were always available and current, there was a good feeling among faculty members, and expectations from staff were always explained thoroughly. Never felt uncomfortable when I was uncertain, there was always resourceful guidance available from fellow faculty and administrators.

    Cons

Job was only part time, many students had unrealistic entitlement issues, no benefits, and a few classes had a few too many students.

    Advice to Management

Doing a great job, when staff feels supported and resources for teaching are current and available teachers will produce a better product and students benefit. Good job Westwood!!!

I have been working at Westwood College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Westwood has been a great place to apply my prior experience in teaching nontraditional students. I feel like the students that attend here really want to improve their lives and that the faculty is here to help make that happen. The training and community at Westwood is terrific.

    Cons

I don't see a clear path for advancement with in the organization. There is no internal posting system for openings.

I have been working at Westwood College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I joined Westwood as an adjunct and was promoted after one year. I had been forced to retire from the public school system after I turned sixty. Westwood has a great diversity of students, which allows me to use my special talents in special education and teaching English as a second language learners. I have enjoyed full support from the administration. This has allowed me to introduce an expanded curriculum in mathematics and the science classes.

    Cons

I think that more thought should be given when planning scheduling for mathematics class. Five and six hour math classes don't work. The classes need to be broken into two class periods.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to what your students are saying.
