    Pros

Great people, opportunities are available to advance if you push for it. Great place to start a career in media

    Cons

Lack of structured management in Affiliate Services. Some employees got away with doing no work while others were penalized.

    Advice to Management

Set firm rules and follow through on them

    Pros

Coworkers are great people, creates a sense of community.

    Cons

    Benefits are horrible and costly
    No room for advancement
Not much investment in employee training/retention.

    Advice to Management

Bringing in Mary Berner was one of the best decisions they could have done. She really has a hands-on attitude. Has been the embodiment of a true open door policy that was not present in the company before.

I worked at Westwood One full-time

    Pros

For the most part about 50% of the people are great. They are helpful, kind, and great to be around. Then, there are the other people who have been around for ever collecting their enormous checks and waiting to die. The manager was wonderful and never overworked us

    Cons

    Embarrassingly low pay
    Terrible benefits
    No room for growth
    No promotions
They have no money for raises

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees fairly and distribute the wealth to those at the bottom-they are doing the most work

    Pros

My supervisor is wonderful and maintains a professional environment without overworking the team. I can't speak to all supervisors within the company, but mine is the reason that I've stayed in my current position. The concensus seems to be that while the work here can be fulfilling, many wish that they were working for another company.

    Cons

This company is making constant changes and none of them seem to be working long-term. Ten presidents in the last 11 years, so Westwood One is a constant revolving door for leadership. I see good salespeople get burnt out because we can't seem to find the right solutions to our problems and our people are undervalued. Growth opportunities are practically non-existent, so if that's what you're looking for it would be best to seek it elsewhere.

Also, communication between departments is terrible. Nobody knows who's responsible for what around here, so people would rather do it themselves than try to track down the person most qualified for the task.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Westwood One has a long way to go to get where it needs to be. Remember that your employees are your strongest asset, so be open to ideas across the company, invest time into developing your human capital and make sure your people feel as valued as your sales goals.

    Pros

Great people in mid level positions. Company owns some of the most well recognized radio properties.

    Cons

Zero money for raises. Some people have been waiting for a raise for 2-3+ years. Management is awful. Not only are there sometimes 3-4 people that manage each department, only 1 of those people will have a clue what they are actually doing, but they will ALL tell you what to do. Kissing up to management will get you promoted, not performance. Do minimal work, kiss up, get promoted. Do the most work, mind your business, never move up. Sellers and management are so afraid of losing their positions that they create unnecessary stress and pressure in the office.

    Advice to Management

Invest and focus on digital assets and properties. Hire a few people under 40 years old for SVP, VP & C level positions. Stop putting ancient people with ancient ideas in these positions. You need newer, younger, ideas and initiatives. You won't get that if you keep putting dinosaurs at the helm.

I have been working at Westwood One full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Fun laid back group of people
    - Stable work environment
    - Great place to start if you're right out of college

    Cons

    - Low Pay
    - Poor communication between departments
    - No opportunity to grow

    Advice to Management

I believe Westwood One is on the right track in improving alot of it's issues. However the pay is extremely below the competition and communication is what makes the overall work experience unbearable. Nothing worse than trying to get something done and their being a communication breakdown that delays it.

I worked at Westwood One full-time

    Pros

People were nice and respectful except top management

    Cons

1.Close to 50% turnover-Easier to replace management than half the workforce.
    2. Don't really train- Just do your job, go home and that's it
    3. Management can be very disrespectful and can sabotage you (even the new CEO says that).
    4. Producers are very angry with the company.

    Advice to Management

They probably won't listen but get rid of people hurting the company especially in management. It's stale and the company is slowly dying.
