I worked at Wet Seal full-time

    Pros

Working with our guests was very rewarding more often than not

    Cons

As a member of Management, I received very little support from our general manager for improvements the store needed. Bullying was also a major problem that went unhandled, with nasty gossip and threats.

I worked at Wet Seal full-time

    Pros

good people, as with most companies

    Cons

poor labor practices - thankfully, buying cheap-as-possible from foreign manufacturers wasn't sustainable here. hopefully people will wake up to the ethical harm of buying fast fashion disposable apparel.

    Pros

I loved my co-workers, and the discount on clothing. The pay was not the best but worked at the time.

    Cons

They seriously told associates the store was closing the day it closed. Management got a three day warning. And then they opened another one years later at the same mall I worked and it closed again. They didn't even call old employees to see if they wanted their jobs back. Bad Business. But the signs were all there. After Black Friday we stopped getting shipments of clothing. And the company stopped sending soap, toilet tissue and other essentials we had to steal it out of the mall bathrooms. The signs that the store was closing were literally on the wall. It was a horrible ending to a fun time in my life.

    Advice to Management

You had mothers with children and people who lived on their own working for you. You don't leave people hanging like that.

    Cons

Horrible pay and hours , if you wanna work here which you won't since it's closing , you'd have to have a second job and watch out for management

I have been working at Wet Seal as a contractor

    Pros

I was able to shoot every piece of content for Wetseal - from on-model ecommerce to laydowns, flats, product shots, lookbooks, and campaigns.

    Cons

The corporate structure of the company made communication slow and inefficient among staff, which caused a lot of miscommunications and unnecessary stress for projects on constant deadlines. The staff was often treated poorly by management and there was constant sudden layoffs in the company, which caused a lot of fear and mistrust among everyone.

    Advice to Management

    The company has since folded

I worked at Wet Seal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There arent many the discount was ok, the clothes are cheap and the atmosphere was decent. Computer system was easy to use.

    Cons

Everything about wet seal screamed underpaid... the employees got 11.00 an hour but only worked 15 hours a week... and being an assistant manager is so much more responsibility and we got a dollar raise, while the managers get almost 17..

    Advice to Management

Not much i guess they shut down

I worked at Wet Seal (Less than a year)

    Pros

discount was nice - nothing else really stands out

    Cons

The way this company was run made 0 sense to me. They were essentially giving away merchandise. We uncovered an employee stealing - mind you, she was very friendly with the other managers - and no one could believe she did it. SHE STOLE OVER $1000 worth of merchandise right out from under them, she even stole money from the registers and other employees. WET SEAL didn't even press charges. The managers really had no idea what they were doing, it was always on the fly. The fact that the company went bankrupt does not surprise me in the slightest. buy 3 things, get two free. What on earth kind of nonsense is that? you might as well just advertise stealing.
