I worked at Wet Seal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There arent many the discount was ok, the clothes are cheap and the atmosphere was decent. Computer system was easy to use.

    Cons

Everything about wet seal screamed underpaid... the employees got 11.00 an hour but only worked 15 hours a week... and being an assistant manager is so much more responsibility and we got a dollar raise, while the managers get almost 17..

    Advice to Management

Not much i guess they shut down

I worked at Wet Seal (Less than a year)

    Pros

discount was nice - nothing else really stands out

    Cons

The way this company was run made 0 sense to me. They were essentially giving away merchandise. We uncovered an employee stealing - mind you, she was very friendly with the other managers - and no one could believe she did it. SHE STOLE OVER $1000 worth of merchandise right out from under them, she even stole money from the registers and other employees. WET SEAL didn't even press charges. The managers really had no idea what they were doing, it was always on the fly. The fact that the company went bankrupt does not surprise me in the slightest. buy 3 things, get two free. What on earth kind of nonsense is that? you might as well just advertise stealing.

I worked at Wet Seal part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-good discount on already cheap clothing
    -team oriented

    Cons

    -cheap, poorly made clothing
-on call shifts, which happens often in retail these days, is not very flexible and the work/life balance is not so great
-only seem to care about numbers and not so much about employees individually, or the products they are selling to consumers.

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee work/life balance, as well as well-being, and even incentives...basically don't treat them as if they are just another assembly line worker. Maybe then you won't experience such a high turnover rate.

I worked at Wet Seal full-time

    Pros

They always had good deals, and it was a flexible schedule for if and when I needed time off.

    Cons

If you were doing something like a window display or wall display and one thing was so off or wrong about it they while thing was considered wrong.

    Advice to Management

There should be more room for growth to advance within the company. I was never given the chance to go do store openings or help out at other stores.

    Pros

Good discount on merchandise. Other than that there really wasn't anything. Worked there basically full time and more than any other associate and none of us ever got raises

    Cons

Poor leadership, drama within management, very unprofessional. They were unwilling to promote from within and never gave raises to employees.

    Cons

Not alot of field support for the new comers. The company filed bankruptcy & closed over 300 stores leaving many without jobs.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge field leadership more. Provide support for newer field leadership before allowing them to sink. Listen to feedback form store personnel
