I worked at Wet Seal full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was with the company 15 years, grew up with this company, and Credit then for a huge contribution to my management and leadership skills, customer service standards, operational excellence, visual talent and creative eye, and attention to detail as a store manager Great employee incentives. Personal relationships with upper management, including regional managers, VP of store ops, VP, and CEO. They were totally invested in their internal customers (employees), constantly accepting feedback, implementing “bright ideas” from employees at an level! Working there I always genuinely felt like part of a team. Maybe it was just my personal experience, my specific DD, RD, co-workers, and fellow store managers in my district that made it so enjoyable for me, but I felt as tho there was consistency, constant motivation from both my DD and the company itself, and appreciation.

    Cons

Competitive pay-we were unable to recruit the talent that we wanted because we weren’t able to pay them for that skill level and talent.
Also, so many changes were made over the years, I think what contributed to the demise of the company was their constant effort to do MORE...I always thought they needed to “take it back to the basics” and re-introduce some of the proven successful bonus programs, contests, selling tools, and training tools that were in place when the company was increasing consistently (2000-2003) and then again (2006-2011).

    Advice to Management

Consistency. Better training tools and better documentation as far as accountability.

I worked at Wet Seal part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

if you love clothing, fashion, styling, and you're passionate about it, you would love to work here! at least where I was located. My team was so much fun to work with and my managers were the best. even after I left work there we're still in touch. there was no discrimination or whatsoever. when I'm not feeling well at work, my managers were so kind to offer me a seat in the backroom so I can rest. or whenever one is hungry, our managers will literally offer their snacks most times.

    Cons

co-workers and management is fine. hours are okay. pay is alright. the only con are the customers in the fitting room, shoplifting.

    Advice to Management

    OPEN WETSEAL AGAIN!!!
