I worked at Wet Seal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cute clothes, fun environment, decent pay for managers

    Cons

Long hours for management, and you're expected to work 50+ on a full time salary position. Huge mistrust between corporate and the stores. They seemed quite confused why sales were low, but would come into stores and change things in successful stores that worked.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your customer better.

    Pros

There were some good managers that could mentor you into higher positions within the company.

    Cons

District Managers could treat you like garbage. Little pay for way to many hours for salary workers (40 hours pay fr 60+ hour weeks). High turnover rate for associates because some managers were not properly trained to lead a team.

    Advice to Management

    none because they are closed.

    Pros

Great people, support from upper management, flexible, fun, time and a half on Sunday's and holidays, overall fun experience. I learned a lot with my time with Arden B/Wet Seal

    Cons

Sad to see the stores liquidate. This was my second store closing with the company and it was hard to see. Wish the company could of really pulled it together and stayed open. The second liquidation was a shock.

I worked at Wet Seal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There arent many the discount was ok, the clothes are cheap and the atmosphere was decent. Computer system was easy to use.

    Cons

Everything about wet seal screamed underpaid... the employees got 11.00 an hour but only worked 15 hours a week... and being an assistant manager is so much more responsibility and we got a dollar raise, while the managers get almost 17..

    Advice to Management

Not much i guess they shut down

    Pros

discount was nice - nothing else really stands out

    Cons

The way this company was run made 0 sense to me. They were essentially giving away merchandise. We uncovered an employee stealing - mind you, she was very friendly with the other managers - and no one could believe she did it. SHE STOLE OVER $1000 worth of merchandise right out from under them, she even stole money from the registers and other employees. WET SEAL didn't even press charges. The managers really had no idea what they were doing, it was always on the fly. The fact that the company went bankrupt does not surprise me in the slightest. buy 3 things, get two free. What on earth kind of nonsense is that? you might as well just advertise stealing.
