I worked at Whataburger full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free food when you become a manager. It's a job.

    Cons

Don't get raises unless you get a promotion. If you're a manager your outside life doesn't exist. I was supposed to feel guilty about requesting my sons birthday off, so anything else that comes up is off the table. Company says it's a family company, but if a grandparent dies. You'd better be at work when you're scheduled. If you go see grandma one last time you'll come back to work with a week suspension. So they punish you and your wallet. As you could imagine you don't get holidays off expect Christmas Day. If you buy the heath insurance you'll have a large amount to pay in before you able to use it. Shouldn't be to hard since they pay so well and you get raises. When the store I worked for made record sells every year and labor percentage was never higher than 25%. Like this for years and no raises.

    Advice to Management

People before profits. The people we work with become family and friends. You know them inside work and outside of work. They're more important than that company will ever be. Treat them as such.

    I worked at Whataburger full-time

    Pros

Weekly pay, affordable benefits, & bonus(if you can hit the numbers)

    Cons

The weight of the demand & pressure is not worth the pay. People constantly late, not showing up, calling in or off, etc. Constant pressure to make these numbers & make those numbers. No matter what you do or how hard you work it's never enough & you never feel appreciated. They call us family members but you get treated more like step children. Their motto is Pride, Care, & Love. The only thing I experienced there is a people full of pride, that care nothing but themselves, & that love money.

    Advice to Management

Get out asap! Don't let that place drag you down physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. like I did. Don't let it put you in place where you need to be off & you're forced to be there for whatever reason. Don't let that place make you it's slave. It's not worth it! Find another way!

    I worked at Whataburger full-time

    Pros

Lots of locations, expansion, and opportunities.

    Cons

Get stuck working long overnight hours.

    Advice to Management

Revise pay policy so that new managers don't make more than those with a long tenure.

I have been working at Whataburger part-time

    Pros

    Employee discount, Co-workers, 4 Hrs.

    Cons

Management playing favorites, little worker diversity, new hires get paid more where I work at.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites, more diverse, workers pay a fair wage and reward workers for the experience and certificates.
