Cons

There really are no cons to working at Whirlpool. I have worked here longer than any other company in my entire lengthy career. There's a reason that Whirlpool is ranked as one of the best large companies in the world to work for.

Whirlpool is a company with good values, a competitive culture, and prioritizes family first.

Located in a small community, there is less access to a broad array of restaurants, shopping, and events without an +1hr drive.

Good salary , typical expensive insurance , some really good managers but they are rare . Many great engineers and technical folks. MThe experience all depends on what your working on and department your with. Lots of travel-in some Positions if you like that. Cafeteria was nice at corporate, not so much at the plants. The hybrid work was good but they seldom allow remote. You can move up, if your in the correct department or your department has massive turnover.

Cons

Often micromanagement is the standard practice, and many over emotional managers in the middle and upper ranks that increases the stress level. Difficult to make quality improvements to the products , due to cost and penny pinching. Many shortcuts are taken to reduce expenses. The goals can be unattainable and discouraging some years, and are typically set without input from the person having to execute them. Lots of departmental silos and large silo between the plants and corporate.

Pros

This company has a good compensation scale and benefits. The work is fulfilling in that it touches the lives of millions of people around the world. The people are professional as is the work environment. Saint Joseph and its surrounding communities are great to raise a family. Lake Michigan and the Michigan State Parks are awesome for recreation.

Cons

The area has a small town feel to it that is wonderful for some but if you are used to the everyday big city lifestyle it may seem boring to you. Another con is that you may need to search for another job once you reach your upper 50's in age.

Pros

I've been at Whirlpool for 17 years, and have filled a wide variety of different roles. My most recent transition was my biggest leap yet from the supply chain operations side of the business to the marketing organization as a merchandising manager. This is one of my favorite things about the company - the fact that they're willing to invest in talent and enable people who are so motivated to grow in their careers. I also recently finished my MBA thanks to the more than equitable tuition reimbursement program the company offers. There's a lot to like beyond that - good people, great products, etc. - but these are the pros on which I like to hang my hat personally.

Cons

Whirlpool is a very large company, and I recognize that not everyone's experience with the company has been as positive as mine. When it comes to recommending Whirlpool as a great place to work, I do so every time without hesitation - but I always add a caveat. Depending on the role you enter into, the career progression you see for yourself, and your willingness to own your pursuit of that 'next' role, you may or may not love it as much as I do. In a company this big, it can be hard to stand out if you're not really working hard to make your impression. And for some, that hill is just too steep to climb.

Pros

People - Whirlpool has some of the best people you can work with. Everyone is open to working together to achieve a common goal, people have genuine respect/appreciation for each other and the people leaders do everything in their power to make individuals feel empowered and valued. Development Opportunity - Being a very flat organization, lower level leaders have direct exposure to senior leadership. This creates loads of opportunities to learn from those leaders and be part of the strategic conversation early in your career while also exciting the strategy. Whirlpool leaders are committed to individual development and there tools available for employees to continue to develop their career and reach their aspirational roles. Finance teams rotate every 2-3 years which creates a learning culture and bias for action.

Cons

Company dosen't value people - The strange dynamic at Whirlpool is although it has some of the best workers and people leaders out there. The company sentiment is not positive in the community due to continual layoffs and time and time again it is proven that Whirlpool does not believe people are it's greatest asset. Benefits - Whirlpool's benefits although strong compared to other small firms in the area do not compete with any larger regional firms. The pay is slightly lower than other companies of the same size.

Because of many opportunities, if you choose to pursue parallel projects, might get your plate full all the time.
