I have been working at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They pay well (if you are salaried), but you will be working way more than 40 hours per week. Take that into account when you evaluate the pay.

    Cons

The corporate culture at Whirlpool is poisonous. Let me translate some of their leadership model:
Own it: Anything that goes wrong, even if it is caused by changes management required or insufficient resources is YOUR fault.
One Whirlpool: You are going to get hosed in favor of other favored people and projects, but don't you dare complain about it
Lead with speed: Regardless of the fact that we are not going to give you sufficient resources and an unrealistic time table, we expect you to work 70-80 hours a week to get it done (as long as you are salied, because we will not pay overtime)

Whirlpool is a very "clique" environment, it is very difficult to come in from the outside and break into the groups that came up through Whirlpool from the start.

Their leadership model is a joke if you are a manger. I went to several classes on leadership and coaching, and had to fight back the laughter. It applies below the manager level when convenient, but directors and above feel no need to follow it.

Also, it is a very "up or out" place. Once they feel you have reached your full growth potential, your days are numbered.

    Advice to Management

Get the directors and above to treat middle management like human beings. Stop reorganizing and changing processes without thought.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There isn't any that are on a positive

    Cons

Nobody helps you, they do not invest in their staff or training, training is hurried and you are placed into your role and expected to know, bad management nobody wants to help, almost feels like a cattle run and I have worked in many cases roles, this by far the very worst

    Advice to Management

Invest in your staff, get yourselves trained on how to manage a team.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

USA onshore people are polite and courteous. And the Pros end here.

    Cons

9 hours to spend in office, choice of 3 shifts since limited space in PUNE office.
Heavy politics and you are suppose to be aligned with the political managers or you will be squashed.
Nobody is trust worthy especially Marathi folk as they bicker and gossip without any useful information.

    Advice to Management

Employees are assets and should be treated as such.
Hire technically sound and competent people for any role. Professional jealousy is out of control in your company.

New management has gone worse as they believe to treat employees like slave labors.
9 hours inside office a must

    Advice to Management

Employees are assets and should be treated as such.
Use proper selection processes to select Permanent employees as all are extremely weak in both communication and business ethics.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you can deal with going to high school everyday... the pay is good once you top out but it's not worth the grief and backstabbing you have to go thru to get there.

    Cons

Favoritism, low morals and low morale! The look down on their employees instead of realizing that their employees are the heart of their business.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting the same lazy people and you might be able to make a positive change!

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As an Organization, many good benefits for employees. Investment in open environment helping with innovation and creativity with team mates. Fairly casual and comfortable environment.

    Cons

The organization wants to believe that they think about people and change, but not supported consistently to make a difference, so can be very frustrating field to try to grow in. With experts in the change field gone from company, difficult to grow in career unless you change career paths. Disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Use change consultants unless you are serious about field.

    Pros

Can't really think of any... oh, hang on... None, nought, nil, zip, zero, nada... etc. Well I guess the management team think they do a cracking job.

    Cons

Same management team since the Indesit / Hotpoint days..., they harass, bully, lie, cheat and continually fail to demonstrate their understanding of their business and workforce needs... work life balance...none !!

Unless you're a manager... of course.

An Organisation that is directed by autonomous philistines and managed by buffoons.

    Advice to Management

Adhere to your own whirlpool values, be honest... I know that's very hard !

    Pros

    Good Pay and benefits
    Great location
Generally nice facilities and they are continuing to invest in their facilities
Most people are fantastic, hard working, and great personal values

    Cons

Cutthroat leadership with self-serving agendas to get ahead in the organization
Individual objectives come before better good of the company (but pretend company's best interest comes first)
    Back stabbing leaders
    Passive aggressiveness is common
If there is a senior leader who does not like someone (for any reason - business, personal, etc.) they will make life miserable for them to the point of getting them fired.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk - Great ideals are espoused, but individual agendas take precedence to the good of the company. Treat people like you pretend you do publicly.
