    Pros

Good Work Life Balance, Work can be rewarding.

    Cons

People are routinely placed in roles for promotions and all employees may not have an opportunity to apply.

    Advice to Management

When you single out employees based for advancement based only on the color or their skin or gender, it makes make everyone feel excluded. To make people feel included, opportunities should not be presented behind closed doors and be open to everyone based on individual success.

    Pros

Progressive- wanting to change for the better. Utilizes resources well. Gives people a chance to work and supports them

    Cons

Too big to make changes quickly. Need too many sign-offs.

    Advice to Management

Should have gotten rid of the rating and ranking before 2010. It lived is life. Should have come up with new ways to keep engineering functions operating at obtuse sights. You let a lot of talent leave when you closed legacy Maytag sites.

I have been working at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They pay well (if you are salaried), but you will be working way more than 40 hours per week. Take that into account when you evaluate the pay.

    Cons

The corporate culture at Whirlpool is poisonous. Let me translate some of their leadership model:
Own it: Anything that goes wrong, even if it is caused by changes management required or insufficient resources is YOUR fault.
One Whirlpool: You are going to get hosed in favor of other favored people and projects, but don't you dare complain about it
Lead with speed: Regardless of the fact that we are not going to give you sufficient resources and an unrealistic time table, we expect you to work 70-80 hours a week to get it done (as long as you are salied, because we will not pay overtime)

Whirlpool is a very "clique" environment, it is very difficult to come in from the outside and break into the groups that came up through Whirlpool from the start.

Their leadership model is a joke if you are a manger. I went to several classes on leadership and coaching, and had to fight back the laughter. It applies below the manager level when convenient, but directors and above feel no need to follow it.

Also, it is a very "up or out" place. Once they feel you have reached your full growth potential, your days are numbered.

    Advice to Management

Get the directors and above to treat middle management like human beings. Stop reorganizing and changing processes without thought.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A co-op position at Whirlpool Amana provided a challenging and rewarding experience. Hands on learning was available in every situation and I was treated with fairness and respect by the older employees.

    Cons

Don't like the heat? The inside of the plant can get up over a hundred degrees on most summer days. Due to the nature of the building there is very poor cooling and it often can be unpleasant.

    Advice to Management

Continue to challenge the co-ops with meaningful work. This is what set you aside from other employers.

    Cons

Walk the talk and be open to feedback and eventually take actions.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you can deal with going to high school everyday... the pay is good once you top out but it's not worth the grief and backstabbing you have to go thru to get there.

    Cons

Favoritism, low morals and low morale! The look down on their employees instead of realizing that their employees are the heart of their business.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting the same lazy people and you might be able to make a positive change!

    Pros

As an Organization, many good benefits for employees. Investment in open environment helping with innovation and creativity with team mates. Fairly casual and comfortable environment.

    Cons

The organization wants to believe that they think about people and change, but not supported consistently to make a difference, so can be very frustrating field to try to grow in. With experts in the change field gone from company, difficult to grow in career unless you change career paths. Disappointing.

    Advice to Management

Use change consultants unless you are serious about field.

    Pros

Good pay and they promote from within

    Cons

Management finds excuses to freeze pay and limit bonuses. They also pit you against your colleagues for ratings to keep your job or move up within the company. Managers have to actively fight for your rating each year, very political. Living in St Joe/Benton Harbor is not for young professional.

    Advice to Management

Revamp your HR dept. It's a joke
