I have been working at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to grow your knowledge outside the immediate job scope

    Cons

Poor processes throughout all areas, constantly "re-inventing the wheel" due to high turn-over, do not care about retaining talent. Salaries way below market level at all bands. Expected to work long hours as a norm.

    Advice to Management

Too much emphasis on delivering the month with no clear long term strategy.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salary compared to industry norm.
    Excellent 401K Match.
Employee Discount program for buying at ~30% Discount.

    Cons

Re-organization in 2016 showed poor direction and planning.
Years of knowledge and experience are not valued. Company prefers to bring in employees from other countries over developing and promoting employees from USA.
Large company, that is divided into many separate divisions. Progress is very slow moving and difficult due to the different priorities of the divisions.

    Advice to Management

Company is struggling to succeed due to poor planning and poor resource management. The latest re-organization is a step in the wrong direction, and the company will continue to struggle because of it. The environment at which the company operates in is not healthy. Reward hard work and dedication by employees, and do not under-estimate the value of years of knowledge and experience.

I have been working at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Very little extra time outside of normal work hours required.
-Getting to work with global teams.
    -Good pay and benefits.
-Low cost of living in this area.

    Cons

-The location isn't great. It's a small town with very little to do.
    -Frequent, extended churn on projects.
    -Lots of unnecessary politics.

    Advice to Management

The yearly review system where 90% people get rated as normal doesn't provide employees helpful feedback to improve themselves and careers. Find a new system.

    Pros

Centrally located to large city such as Chicago and Detroit. Flexible working environment

    Cons

The company has no growth and development program and typically use the term “own your own career,” to avoid developing all of its employees. You are easily over looked and nepotism is freely practiced. Your pay will never exceed market value.

    Advice to Management

Place as much concern in your people development as you do to innovation

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Whirlpool provided me opportunities to develop myself every year via classes, seminars, and new assignments. I changed jobs almost every 2 years over my 32 year career. This allowed me to constantly challenge myself to grow and learn new skills. A great place to work.

    Cons

Location, location, location... I spent most of my career away from family because I loved my job and the people I worked with.

    Advice to Management

Your only as good as your last assignment. Get in and grow your skills... then move back home to be near family and friends.

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You own you're career - they will give you lots of work if you prove yourself. People are open to sharing their experiences - and it's up to you to learn and navigate through it.
They have a great leadership program. I highly recommend anyone to try it and complete it. It'll open a world of opportunities for you.

    Cons

There are some major gender inequality issues in various departments - especially the finance and accounting department (look at the leadership ratio and how it trickles down). Because of this, it can be tricky to navigate politics based on your gender, let alone get actionable feedback or be comparable to your male colleagues. The perception is that more often than not - women find themselves required to "prove" themselves prior to a promotion/pay raise while men can get this based on potential prior to proving themselves.
After you've been there for a period of time, you'll notice you'll stop hearing what you're doing well and the focus will be more on your faults or weaknesses - and how you need to be well rounded in every facet. Depending on your career ambitions, this most likely isn't the best route. The key would be to play on your strengths and minimize your weaknesses - the opposite of what they'll want you to do. Because of this, you'll find your "own glass ceiling" within 3 years.
Bonuses rarely are 100%. Expect your base only.
Work life balance is terrible if you want to be successful. Within the finance function - it was very hard to find 'working families'. Almost everyone above Manager level had only one working spouse if they had kids.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the leadership programs - they're great for people to start. Gender Equality is significantly lacking in certain functions. Don't choose favorites - but stick to what you preach - performance.
