    Major power struggle going on in procurement....leadership needs to decide who's in charge, give clear direction to employees, then let those folks do their job and support their business partners.

    Advice to Management

    VP's constantly micro-managing projects is not an efficient use of resources.

    Pros

    Low cost of living at HQ
    Some good products
    Some emphasis on leadership training

    Cons

    - This is a leadership team from the Paleolithic period. They are so ignorant. They think by living in a well their world is the well.
    - Zero desire to integrate with the world
    - Poor value placed for industry knowledge, technical expertise and true leadership
    - Value placed on looking good, schmoozing with CxO's and VP's, attending the same places of worship as the bosses. Just plain poor substance.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on substance, focus on technology and fire your CIO.

    Pros

    Lots of opportunities to grow laterally and vertically, high bonus target potential and genuinely are concerned for the overall well-being of employees.

    Cons

    There are too many poor people leaders, especially in HR. Hopefully things will improve so HR can better reflect and do what it tells other managers to do. There is a lot of change happening, it's touted as good for everyone but it often feels it's mostly just helping Whirlpool's bottom line, there's not enough balance.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on hiring the best leaders of people, not just the manager the senior executive really likes. Book smarts DOES NOT EQUAL managerial smarts! Poor managers need help or need to be shown the door before an unneeded number of talented people leave.

    High tempo atmosphere - nice co-workers

    Cons

    little positive management interaction -- stuck on job by myself with little training. The supervisor would just call the phone by my work area and tell me what to do for the night

    I have been working at Whirlpool Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    The ability to move into completely different jobs but still work at the same company
    A global company which values different cultures and people
    A strong commitment to thier values

    Cons

    Whirlpool has so many brands that a significant amount of resources are wasted so Whirlpool can compete with itself rather than the competition
    The PMP rating system destroys teamwork and drives the organization to penalize 20% of the work force every year......... even if an employee doesn't deserve a poor rating.
    Age discrimination is rampant within the organization and the PMP system is used to penalize the experienced older employees to cover the 20% poor rating objective.
    Whirlpool is a change fanatic, we are constantly changing everything weather we need to or not, which tends to break what is working well and the things we need fixed never get resolved.

    Advice to Management

    Whirlpool has some intelligent leaders, but unfortunately, are so out of touch with how things get done they don't know what to change to make us smarter/faster, and even if they did, I don't see them having the true leadership skills required to make the difficult decisions to truly make us better, which is why Whirlpool will always be a reactionary company rather than a leader of the industry until that changes.

    Pros

    if you get in with the right people you can make 50-80k a year.
    pass a urine analysis and youre hired.

    Cons

    rampant cronyism, unrealistic demands on the human body, imaging being in a boxing match for 10 hours or running a marathon for 10 hours, profit sharing nonexistent, theres a large population of non-English speakers that are not expected to work, rampant violence, drugs, corruption, and trading sexual favors for advancement. the physical demands are completely unrealistic, the benefits are unaffordable, turnover is 97%, union is impotent

    Advice to Management

    pay a decent wage and you wont have to hire 300 people a month to find suckers to do 25 dollar an hour work for 13 dollars. require reading and speaking English. stop the cronyism and promote on merit.

    Pros

    Really good at promoting within and provides a multitude of personal growth opportunities. Great benefits and active in the local community

    Cons

    Salaried employees are vulnerable to being taken advantage of in regards to the number of hours worked in a week. Compensation for the work, without overtime, tends to run less than hourly labor.

    Advice to Management

    Fight for your employees, headcount reductions have become common place in big companies like Whirlpool, and you need to make sure the workload is manageable for the employees you have left when you start making cuts.

    Pros

    The people were the best ones I've ever come in contact with.

    Cons

    Whirlpool spends more time working on diversity instead of making great appliances. They focus more on promoting Homosexual's and other ethnic classes and encourage more of that.

    Advice to Management

    The focus of Whirlpool should be one that is making a great product instead of worrying about the different diversity in the workplace. It was really annoying and if anyone spoke up against it they were not treated very well after that.

    Pros

    If you want a wife and 2 kids at age 20, and want to settle down in a tiny town where everyone knows everybody, then this is the place for you.

    Cons

    Extremely corrupt HR department, and everyone acts like robots.

    Advice to Management

    Try to retain top talent- you lost a lot of great employees.
