I worked at Whirlpool Corporation as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great experience, Hands on project experience, Had a great mentor/supervisor who really cared about my time there. I learned a lot about what I wanted to do, definitely a good company to learn from.

    Cons

My biggest complaint is the employee relations between the supervisors, engineers, factory workers and corporate are not great. There was a disconnect between corporate and management at the plant location and a disconnect between the engineers and the factory workers.

    Pros

Great work/life balance, competitive pay and excellent benefits, opportunity for growth

    Cons

The first few years I worked there were great, steady management and leadership, but towards the end it pretty much went downhill. Don't have an opinion on something other than the popular one, point out a process or system flaw and suggest how to fix it, or be innovative in any way with your ideas (even though they say innovation is welcome) you'll quickly be reprimanded for it. This is a keep your nose to the grind and go with the flow kind of company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, don't promote employees to management who have no experience, the constant change in management benefits no one

I worked at Whirlpool Corporation full-time

    Pros

Good culture, pay and benefits, all at or above similar organizations. SW Michigan is a spectacular place to be located.

    Cons

Extensive turnover of IT Asset Managers over the last 10 years. Sr. management commitment is weak and you run into the, "we do it this way" barrier consistently.

    Pros

Pay is good and environment is clean

    Cons

Little chance for advancement & contractors are viewed as much less important than direct employees.

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees personally and directly. Offer solutions instead of uncertainty. Constant hypocrisy on policies from management.

    Pros

    You will always stay busy

    Cons

There is no system to anything. Coooperate culture is very different from the actual items on the plant. Lot of people do not like the headquaters leadership at the plant level.

I have been working at Whirlpool Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

Telecommute option. Constant communication on SOP changes. Excellent benefits. Annual pay raises if bottom line goals reached. Excellent health, dental, & vision coverage. Rewards on HSA card for good health.

    Cons

Typical office politics - favored individuals are promoted faster. Many SOPs but processes still fall between the cracks. Micromanagement is extreme. PTO is difficult to use. Make-up & Flextime cumbersome to use. Arbitrary changes in attendance policy by leadership so employees are forced to comply. The bottom line is the most important thing. Disingenuous interest in employees by upper management, - just sheep measured by numbers. Pay is considerably lower than market peers.

    Advice to Management

Create a workforce policy that employees can actually utilize. You will be rewarded with increased productivity.
