Too much overlap of accountability, Highly matrixed organization Employee well being (Benefits, training, career management etc) is not top concern of management. They give it lip service, and it looks good on the surface, but ultimately the average employee falls at bottom of priorities Management willingness to attack and address the tough issues

Pros

Great work-life balance (that is, if you are happy living in very small towns), nice people to work with, comfortable work rhythm, cool topic to work on, great products. Massive company, so there is some room to move around, depending on your department and manager support.

Cons

Offices are based in very small towns with no diversity or options for cultural events or good restaurants. There is a huge push to stay there, and remote work is not appreciated. Company is extremely old school and political. If you work super hard or not hard at all, it seems like you'll be rewarded just the same. No employee appreciation. Hush-hush culture, where colleagues don't feel comfortable complaining about work amongst themselves, and there is a brain-washing that it is the best place to work in the world. White male-dominated culture. Diversity and Inclusion efforts are merely a box being checked.

Global Enterprise w/ low cost of living, small town feel but still close to Chicago, Detroit and Lake Michigan beach life. Great golf courses, nature, hiking, food, culture. Fortune company with fantastic work-life balance and hard working intelligent people.

Small town living sometimes tough for young singles fresh out of college.

- Salary is competitive if you negotiate your starting salary well - The company is large enough to allow experience in many different areas if you move within the corporation - If you like living in a small town, the area is great, beach is beautiful, and the people are kind

- This company is one of the most competitive ones I've seen if you are trying to move up the ladder quickly - This is still a company driven by middle-aged and older caucasian men.

Hires only a specific personality, people with communicative leadership... but, sometimes we just need some qualified 'do-ers' Not everyone can lead. Good ability to grow if you have the right friends and are willing to move to a small town in Michigan.

Forward thinking, global company. Very diverse workforce for having a HQ in a small town. Work-Life balance is usually respected.

Moving engineering and IT jobs out of North America. Trying to implement global processes, but still allows high flexibility in the regions - it won't work.

Cons

Everyone I know loves the company. The biggest downfall is site locations in the US. Most are smaller towns that are very family friendly but lacking in 'excitement' and job opportunities for partners in different fields of work.
