    Pros

Company that appreciates its employers. Listens well about any feedback. Very organized. Will pay you well if you can prove to deliver excellence

    Cons

Still a small company, but growing slowly. not much cons to mention. One of the few retail jobs I enjoyed.

      I worked at Whistles

      Pros

      Met great people in Bloomingdales

      Cons

Company did not follow the Labor Law requirements for the state, District Manager is rude, disrespectful, & lies, goals are unrealistic (30% to LY) to keep you from achieving bonus, you are micro managed the whole way, shop is very slow due to location

      Advice to Management

Find another job. Both shop managers before me quit in less than a year.

I worked at Whistles full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Great in store team and local support team, great relationships between management staff. Area manager was also very kind and supportive, I remeber one day getting an email from the CEO to congratulate on being the best store in the area for a particular week which was fantastic to get that recognition and feel personal. Clothing is gorgeous too! Unfortunately I was only there for a short period due to relocating...

      Cons

Had to wait 3 months to get discount benefits which felt a long time when I was eager to buy the clothes to look the part!

I worked at Whistles full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      - Discount - Other working in store were really lovely people, just a shame about superiors.

      Cons

      - Very low pay yet they expect the world from you. - Lack of training for staff at all levels leading to incompetent managers. You're expected to just learn on the job yet get told off if you don't follow precise company procedure. - Went without a manager for over half the time I worked there - meaning that the manager's tasks were given to myself (senior sales associate on minimum wage). - Payroll consistently underpaid...

      Advice to Management

Focus on the stores that you already have before opening more and more new ones. Ensure that each location has the right amount of staff to cover the hours needed. Bring in an external and dedicated company to look after payroll. Make it easier for staff in stores to be able to communicate with their superiors (such as area managers) so that necessary support is available. Pay more attention to your staff -...

      Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Whistles full-time

      Pros

-75% employee uniform discount (6 pieces per season) -50% off everything else after probation period -25% off sale items -quick interview/hiring process -great in store teams- lovely staff members, welcoming atmosphere

      Cons

-no support from management -minimal training and high expectations -VERY LOW PAY - this is especially relevant for Sales assistants not in management- pay is minimum wage- totally unacceptable for a company of this calibre. -really bad ROTA system- not fairly rostered.

      Advice to Management

Take more time to train new employees- make sure everyone feels confident and competent in their role in the team. Make a fair rota system that is laid our in staff contracts so that expectations of work life balance can be met. Raise salaries for sales assistants so they are actually able to live in London.
