I worked at Whitbread part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Sometimes get short shifts, 3-4 hour shifts sometimes

    Cons

Restaurant has quiet periods so you have nothing to do but manager will still tell you to ‘look busy’ when you can’t do anything but wait for customers Shift patterns change all the time Managers don’t take into consideration what you need from the job, will give you any shifts even if you say you can’t do that many hours or don’t want to work in that department 30 minutes unpaid break for every 6 and a half hours... of work, can’t decide what time you take this manager will just tell you to take it at a certain time Restaurant can get very very busy at peak times and you’ll find yourself doing 3 people’s work at the same time cause other members of staff are lazy

Thanks for taking the time to write your review. The hospitality industry is a particularly tough industry to work within, both in terms of targets and work life balance. This balance is extremely important to us and we want to ensure that our team members are happy - we will take this feedback on board. We offer many learning and development courses to assist in career progression and really believe in nurturing our people in their career development. Sorry that the opportunities were not presented to you during your time with us but I hope you’ve found a great new role somewhere.

I worked at Whitbread part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Company benefits aren't bad really

    Cons

They employ general managers with zero people skills. I know of at least 6 grievences (including mine) that have been reported to head office and NOTHING gets done. The managers are bullys, do not care about their staff, and more interested in money. Rotas get changed at the last minute. Some people even did pathetic 2 or 3 hour shifts. After talking to people from other sites in the region sounds like all the... managers are the same!

I worked at Whitbread full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The restraunt was very quiet on weekdays, so its not stessfull job.

    Cons

Evan if you work over six hours you may not get a brake. I have done 12 hours shifts with out a brake, and to make things worse they take an hour of pay away from you for the hour you did not get.

    Advice to Management

    Improve work conditions
