I have been working at Whitbread full-time

    Pros

Some excellent people here. Good benefits package and perks. Great investment in people - personal development, social events and environment.

    Cons

Huge disconnect between departments. Not always clear what objectives or priorities are. In fact everything is top priority. Project delivery time scales tend to be lead by tbe stakeholders desire rather than a realistic technical analysis. From a senior management point of view, whoever shouts loudest tends to get their way. There can be a lack of trust, to the point where everything is over-governed so you cant actually do the job you are paid to do, or at least its much slower than it should be.

    Advice to Management

Sort out priorities and be clear with direction. Trust your teams to do the jobs you pay them for.

I have been working at Whitbread full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good progression programme, bupa benefits, 6 month CSP, 50 percent bonus potential, good maintenance contracts, staff discount, good team hours allowance

    Cons

Low pay, poor contingency, stock delivery issues around peak trading months, no overtime despite it being unavoidable, young ROMs with little practical experience, no open door for issues

    Advice to Management

Open the door for issues to be reported, renegotiate the standards expected by procurement, stop spending money on useless tech, vary the menus to fall in line with current trends and renegotiate prices charged to customers to increase footfall.

I worked at Whitbread full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Team, staff discount, good online training system. Can't really think of anything else to be honest and need to write 20 words.

    Cons

Higher management, lies about progression, micro managed at every opportunity! Wages are terrible, illegal late/early shifts every week, finish at half 12 start at half 5! One to one reviews that never happen. Higher management on a power trip, key tasks taken from you because Higher management on a power trip (shame they couldn't do them better) don't work here unless you want your soul drained!

    Advice to Management

Get managers that know what their doing & help progress you rather than pushing good managers out the door for their friends/family!

I have been working at Whitbread full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great brands to be proud of. Great people who are dedicated and committed to the brands. An organisation that will be there for the long haul.

    Cons

In the current challenging environment, there is a big restructure and drive towards cost efficiency, they need to make sure that they do not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Very poor systems but we hear that investment is on its way. There is no fun at work at the moment, hopefully that will recover in the next couple of months.

    Advice to Management

Think about the internal customer even though we only ever talk about the external customer
