I have been working at White House Black Market part-time

    Pros

Nice clothing, good discount. Flexible hours. The customers that come in are not the type to complain over coupons.

    Cons

Aggressive selling. Have to pick out entire outfits with shoes and jewelry for someone who just wants a single pair of pants. (And then you must put it all away). The "commission" is taxed as a cash bonus. So if you finally make a sale over $500, taxes take 40% of your measly $50 bonus.

I worked at White House Black Market part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, great product, great hours. Company has high standards

    Cons

Company does not pay employees to reflect the high expectations they have for their company. Might as well work for MCDonalds.

    Advice to Management

A strong company treats their employees with he same standards they hold their company at.

I worked at White House Black Market part-time

    Pros

The management at WHBM greatly values customer service, putting all of their customers needs and request at top priority. Also, the way the store is run is extremely organized and follows a well thought out system.

    Cons

Difficult to switch shifts or request time off. Usually under staffed.

I worked at White House Black Market full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Beautiful stores/clothes
    Promote internally
    Great PTO/Holiday benefits
    Amazing 401K

    Cons

Company is declining rapidly, cutting costs every way they can
    Tough work-life balance
Overpriced clothes even with discount- hard to remain relevant and in dress code

    Advice to Management

Eliminating store management positions was not morally right. Have ethics instead of trying to cut costs any way you can. View people as people- not numbers

  7. "Awesome place to work"

    Pros

Management and co-workers are biggest perk. They’re very supportive and absolutely work as a “team”

    Cons

Store layout (mine anyway) is cumbersome sometimes bc the dressing rooms create a bottle-neck of customers and maneuvering thru them is a pain.

I worked at White House Black Market part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The bonus was a huge pro but they recently changed the policy to where the customer returns anything, it’s taken away from your bonus.

    Cons

    Always on your feet
Not well staffed ( some part timers sometimes worked one time a month)
Management is cliquey and judgmental, and may take your sales!
Sometime won’t be able to take a break at a decent time ( you’ll be starving by the time coverage comes in to finally take a break)

    Advice to Management

    Always hire dependable people.
Fix the management attitude, some managers would put themselves first to sell when it’s the associates/lead responsibility while the manager connects at the front.
