I worked at White House Black Market full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent team, one of the best jobs I've ever had. Retail is challenging, but you learn everything about running a business, sales and how to be a leader.

    Cons

I was good at my job but was unable to make enough to support myself. Retail is a tough gig in that respect.

    Advice to Management

    keep on keeping on!

    Pros

Wonderful life balance if you have children. Flexible scheduling, get ammenites

    Cons

Commission and bonuses. There is the potential to make some serious money with this company. The down side is the commission structure.

    Advice to Management

If you are thinking of relocating to this company, know that the promise that you will make more money may not be the case.

    Pros

The customers, store teams, peers and management meetings. There were some great people within the division.

    Cons

Work life balance, working every holiday and limited use of earned vacation.

    Advice to Management

Focus on sales goals and the people who are helping the store make those goals.

I worked at White House Black Market part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are really cute clothes, I worked at the outlet so we got a lot of good clothes in our clearance from the boutiques

    Cons

The full price clothes are expensive even with your discount, the clothing you are buying will go on sale in two weeks for the price you got it for

    Advice to Management

The Ellenton one needs to schedule people real shifts because they would only do 4-5 hours max so you could only have a 10min break, the Miromar one schedule me 8-9 hours at least every shift

I worked at White House Black Market part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I loved the clientele, everyone was so nice and sweet and really valued the opinions of the staff. I also love the clothing that WHBM sells and it made it really easy to work there and encourage the clothing there.

    Cons

The management was absolutely and utterly, HORRIBLE. I came in to work with a positive attitude and open mind, but I felt completely destroyed after a shift because of the rudeness that had taken place. The managers are extremely unprofessional and dishonest. For that reason, I don't foresee myself working for the company again which is a shame because I had a lot to offer. As a part time, I also got 6 hours in two weeks... pathetic!!!!

    Advice to Management

Please stop with the cattiness..... its a freakin retail job. I repeat, A RETAIL job. There is no reason to exert all of your energy in irrelevant and childish things.

I have been working at White House Black Market full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They encourage work-life balance which is great, however it's hard to make miracles happen within a 40 hour work week.

    Cons

Retail is not a hard job, it's a unique one where you have to deal with interesting situations and know how to handle them. This company loves to add things for you to focus on, 101 things are not enough and of you aren't 100% on each there will be consequences.
They discourage pay increases so if you come in low you're going to have a hard time increasing your pay more then a few cents over the years.
