I worked at WhiteHat Security full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Top talent exec team brought in mid 2015
    - Already a leader in the space, looking to grow and become dominant player in space
    - Good mix of long-time employees and new people, atmosphere is positive.
    - Smart management. WhiteHat was very selective in bringing in their new CEO and staff underneath him

    Cons

    - SAST offering needs strong focus and investment - development dollars
    - Processes are a bit challenging with all the new people, but that is being sorted out

    Advice to Management

Keep moving in the direction of up - take on the big guys and key on the differentiators that make WhiteHat something special. Ensure that that the company doesn't place all its eggs in DAST, focus on SAST and emerging technologies. Not just speaking of them, but putting development muscle to build out market requirements. If solid offerings are available, sales will sell them.

    Pros

Can learn a lot about the security industry if you are proactive. Some smart, driven people.

    Cons

Nepotism and/or hiring TIBCO employees is the HR strategy.

I have been working at WhiteHat Security full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you think eating stale bananas and drinking 6 types of milk is awesome, then this is the place to be at!

    Cons

Favoritism, unrealistic salaries, friends of managers are hired and paid ridiculously high salaries and given high job titles. Management does not value, respect, or acknowledge hard working employees. Instead low performers are kept and given the freedom to not work the standard 40 hours a week. The financial stability is weak, high turnover in every department, and morale is down.

    Advice to Management

As many times as you do a valuation, no one will want to acquire you. Also posting your financial LT/ST goals in the conference rooms are not impressive to employees.

I have been working at WhiteHat Security full-time

    Pros

Employees are dedicated in spite of low morale.

    Cons

The company lost it's founder and other chief thought-leaders in 2015. There has been little innovation and they're in a free-fall. Before accepting a job here, look closely at their financial stability.

I worked at WhiteHat Security full-time

    Pros

Good work/life balance you can be accommodated to work anywhere anytime as long as you are a good employee who delivers.
There is a mixture of all personalities, extroverts, introverts and in-between. As an introvert I never felt pressured to be talkative or to network like crazy in order to be promoted or for my good work to be noticed, there are opportunities and roles for all types of personalities. Acceptance of who I am and how I do my job is what I miss so much about WHS, other places just want to force you into a mold.
HMO Health insurance is extremely good, way better than that crappy high deductible insurance provided by multi-billion multi-national companies.
After going through 5 direct supervisors/managers (in the course of many years) I have been surprised to never had found any problem with any of them or them with me. My managers were always easy to work with, and never tried to force "their way or the highway" in the way I did things.

    Cons

There is no clear view on how to further your career once you reach a certain position. I'd have loved to at least be able to move laterally into a new role within application security but I did not encounter any information on what the salaries would be like in those positions and how the bonus structure would differ from what I had.

    Advice to Management

There was something like a "role/job stalker" back in 2014 where you could signup via email in order to get information and pointers on other roles within company. I signed up but never got any information for the role I was interested in. I'd love if initiatives like that would actually be given time to work.
I don't know what else to put here, more healthy snacks in the kitchen? I had an awesome time at WHS, I might be back, who knows.

I worked at WhiteHat Security full-time

    Pros

Great people, great technology. They'll train you up if you're new to the security industry. Lots of sharp minds to collaborate with and share knowledge with.

    Cons

The pay is reasonable for new, inexperienced security people, but once you get experience and begin to grow and excel, you quickly outgrow the pay scales (i.e. you quickly become qualified to earn significantly more than WhiteHat is willing to pay).

    Advice to Management

Pay your top security people more to keep them on board. The model works, in general, but you'd be a 5 out of 5 company of you retained more top talent. If your goal is to be an incubator for the security industry, then keep doing what you're doing (nothing wrong with that).

I worked at WhiteHat Security full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Snacks in the kitchen.
-Hard to get fired if you work in the TRC (being lazy and bad at your job is perfectly acceptable)
-Several really good people work there but most are trying to get out ASAP!

    Cons

    -Many changes in leadership.
-Doesn't care to keep their talent.
-Quality of employees and service is at an all time low.
    -Company morale is a joke.
-HR is corrupt and doesn't protect their people.
-Managers have a poor/lost sense of direction and doesn't understand the product.
-Gives people severance packages to "shut them up" so they won't sue them for wrongful termination.
-Company will retaliate if you make any complaints with HR.
-Product is a mess. Too much can be said about this.
-Company sells things they don't actually provide and then hires third party vendors and tries to pull shady business on the customers so they don't find out.
-Has a ridiculous amount of politics for being such a small company.

Do yourself a favor and stay far far away from this place!

    Advice to Management

    Resign.
