Pros
One of my favorite parts of working at Whitepages is the amount of ownership I am given. We run a small team and everyone plays a big role, which gives me a lot of excitement to come to work everyday. All of the managers I interact with are very supportive and happy to help at any time, but also give you the space and trust to get your work done. My teammates are also always willing to drop what they are doing to answer a question or help me with something. I can tell that my team and managers want to help me grow and excel here. The people overall are really great here and lots of fun to be around. Another important "pro" of working here is that I have a great work life balance. They understand that we have lives, get sick, have to go to the doctor, need vacations, etc. The company has evolved a lot since I started, especially since Rob became CEO, and is more focused than when I started. I am very lucky to work at such a great company!
Cons
The only 'con' I can think of is that we don't really interact with other departments as much as I would like. I enjoy getting to meet others in the company, but don't have tons of opportunities to do so (outside of our bi-weekly HHs).

Pros
- Great people! The first thing I notice when I started at Whitepages was that people here are genuinely friendly. The Company has an open floor concept (no one has offices, not even the CEO/CFO), which makes it easier to interact with team members. - The Company has awesome perks! The Company provides a wide selection of free snacks for its employees (yogurt, granola, various types of cereals, apples, bananas, milk, sodas, juice, chips, etc..) - There is a full stock bar with multiple types of beer, wine and alcohol. Every Friday there is an event going on (either happy hour or free lunch) - The Company provides an Orca card and there is a masseuse on site. - Compensation is above average! I feel like Whitepages tries to retain and attract talented people and in order to do that, they are willing to pay more than others. -Whitepages actually has a work/life balance.
Cons
- Whitepages is still a small Company with about ~160 employees, therefore, there is not much room for movement/promotions within the Company. However, there are plenty of opportunities for learning and if you like the small Company feel, then this is the right place for you! - The Company does not have a fix 401K employer match (it’s an unknown until the end of the year)

Small Company with Big Goals
Mar 9, 2020 - Fraud Analyst in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Executives follow through on claims of/beliefs in transparency Because company is so small, managers are encouraged to have employees work on specialized projects Career development is a focus for everyone Everyone gets the chance to know other people in other departments just from a quick stop in the kitchen
Cons
You have to be able to keep your head on a swivel, strategies to meet or exceed goals can change quickly Because of the small company, everyone is held accountable for the things their team is responsible for It can be difficult to get leadership focus on projects that aren't top of mind for certain goals
Thank you for taking time to write a review. As a leadership team, we believe transparency in the business is critical, because without transparency, it’s difficult to do your job well. We’re glad to hear this is something that you’ve experienced, and we will strive to continue providing this. Supporting career development also has been a key focus of ours since the Ekata spin-off and we’re glad that you’ve been able to benefit from that as well. Small companies have the advantage of being able to move quickly without a lot of bureaucracy and to your point, that can make it challenging to keep your priorities aligned. Please reach out to your manager or me if you feel that you’re not getting the attention needed to move projects forward or have question about direction. We can work with you to help bring the right visibility to leadership or remove roadblocks if you need some support to get to the finish line or even if you need support understanding where the finish line is. We appreciate your feedback and are dedicated to your success!

Lots of ownership opportunities in a fast moving and growing company
Sep 19, 2018 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-You are empowered to pitch and execute on ideas -Its fast moving, so you learn prioritization and time management -Lots of friendly and experienced people to learn from -Emphasis on speed, productivity and accountability may not be for everyone, but to me its exciting and challenging - never a dull moment -Tons of transparency around financial results and what different teams are working on -Small teams so you can have a big impact and its pretty clear how you are contributing -Passionate and accessible CEO -Opportunity to work on global projects
Cons
- Performance management is different than other tech companies I've been at - more casual with more of the onus put on the employee than the manager, but I think there are improvements going on here - There are two divisions that don't overlap a lot - a B2B side and Consumer side, so it feels a little weird to not know who some of the people are, but there are activities to bring people together like ping pong tourneys and an all-company retreat

As long as I think only in my shoes it's tolerable.

The casual attire environment is appreciated. The benefits are great especially for a smaller size company. Getting to participate and being encouraged to do so with things like United Day of Caring are nice.
Cons
Compensation is lacking. When salary.com shows my title median pay at 20% more than what i make it's very disappointing. Seeing folks that have devoted time and energy to the company for a long time get no respect.

Enjoyable but question long term prospects
Oct 30, 2014 - Anonymous Employee in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great environment and colleagues, enjoyable place to work
Cons
Felt there was a general lack of strategic direction. Some management decisions were questionable and it seemed the company would put forth weak efforts in several directions to see what took. In the end, nothing was pursued intensively enough to succeed so it felt like we were always chasing the latest flavor of the month with no clear long term direction.

Pros
Whitepages has great benefits: - A large snack selection - A bar (kegs, wine, alcohol, etc.) - Company events with free food and alcohol - Great compensation and health benefits - The Company is small, however, each employee is talented/intelligent. Is great to have that kind of talent around you as it pushes you to work at your best.
Cons
- Turnover is high, specially since there has been a lot of org changes. - Company does not match 401k contributions

Whitepages Pro - Small Team, Big Impact
Nov 21, 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Great team: intelligent, hardworking, and very welcoming colleagues - Intellectually satisfying work: challenging and collaborative environment, high expectations - Entrepreneurial: supportive of employees taking initiative, results focused, very little red tape/ineffective middle management/etc. - Tech perks: snacks, booze, happy hours, catered lunches
Cons
- Still working out some kinks around career growth - that said, it's a great company, and I'm confident that management is focused on continued improvement in this area

Good for entry-level sales; steer clear if experienced
Jun 11, 2018 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Smart folks in product and marketing was getting better focus. Good collaborative work environment. Good opportunity to learn about selling data and API's. Complicated sales cycle which is good for someone who is curious as you will work with a lot business units to get a deal closed. Office is nice with free snacks and drinks.
Cons
New CEO brought in folks that worked for him at previous company. Suddenly people became Director's that had never managed a team before. There was also a burgeoning 'bro' culture settling in the sales org as the leadership were friends prior to joining the company. Inexperience in the leadership ranks led to poor sales planning and unrealistic goal setting. Teams were created and discarded as a result. A lot of talented people left that other companies would be thrilled to have. If you are fresh out of college and looking for first role in the tech industry, give them a shot. If you have experience, look elsewhere.

Pros
- Smart, intelligent, and talented people - Fully stocked kitchen and alcohol - Nice office - Good for entry level jobs, bad for experienced professionals
Cons
- Management is failing to recognize changes are needed. The recent featured review on August 21 is a good example. Staged review after a couple 2 star reviews. - Benefits not up to par for Seattle tech environment. CEO recently called out entire company for taking PTO ('unlimited' PTO that's tracked) and working from home. - Authoritarian management style due to CEO's background - Management lacks experience and seems chaotic at times. Promotions based on appearance and not performance. - Management praises employees for working late hours and weekends - Sudden layoffs and no performance management
