I worked at Whiting Petroleum full-time

    Pros

Whiting used to offer competitive pay and benefits plans.

    Cons

Terrible company culture overwhelmed by gross discrimination and thoughtless middle managers.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at who your directors are hiring and promoting and soon you will see an alarming trend. Internal promotions are not based on merits but on relationships.

    Pros

Pay. Management stays off your back.

    Cons

    Entrenched, good ol' boy, cronyism.
This company got lucky with their acreage and the success (actually luck) has gone to management's head. Many older workers need to be fired or forced retirement.

    Advice to Management

Tell the truth to your employees. Have some guts.

I worked at Whiting Petroleum full-time

    Pros

Great company, very driven. Was pleasantly surprised at the amount of help everyone was willing to give to Interns. Pay is good for an Intern and the projects were very hands on and educationally rewarding.

    Cons

I didn't have any issues with the company. Unfortunately I was with them during the downturn which meant things started slowing down.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work with the Interns, the program is a great first experience.
